ALPA Pin

I asked this question in another post, but the infighting had already started and I think my question got lost in the shuffle. So I shall ask it here.

What is the proper etiquette when you see a non-member wearing an ALPA 9/11 memorial pin?

Give us a name please... or at least initials.

How do you know he's a non-member? Could have been a former member?

Our airline is non-union yet there are quite a few guys that wear ALPA pins or lanyards including the 9/11 pin. Most worked at airlines that were ALPA before coming here.

I think I would inquire about it in a non-confrontational way, but in a way that makes it clear that you are just curious about the story behind that seemingly conflicting choice.

Huck, It is a T7 guy.

"A pledge pin...on your uniform?!"

Post your question over in the Major forum, and you will get the answer you seek. That kind of crap wouldn't last a day at an ALPA pax carrier....

I ran into a non-member wearing an ALPA a few years ago in OAK. He happened to be a former Tiger Pilot. I explained to him that as a non-member he was not entitled to wear the pin. He mumbled something about paying dues and some issues he had with ALPA. I told him to get his issues worked out and stop wearing the pin until he did. I understand he stopped wearing the it and has since retired.

BTW what's a T7?
