It occurs to me that automobiles are getting faster and faster. And we are in the middle of a "horsepower war", just like we were in the late 1960's, when I was born.
A boy born November 16, 1990 can legally take his licensing exam and walk out the door of the DMV and climb into a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 and proceed up I-95 here in Florida at upwards of 250 mph. And other than the speed, he is completely legal. Yes, this is legal, but does it make any sense at all?
Hello?
Normy <--- drives a 330 hp Porsche 928. It has enough power at 90 mph to spin the tires and send the back end sideways if I downshift to fourth gear at that speed. This car is so fast it scares me, I have a healthy fear of this thing and that's why I've never had any moving violations in it.
[knock on wood]
That 16 year old with THREE times that power? No, that's not a realistic situation, a newly-minted driver and a $1.3 million dollar car with 1000 horsepower...but it points out where things are going. I think that cars like the 2004 Corvette [and my 928, and things hotter...] that this individual died in should require special licensing to drive on public roads.

I know Wolfman and will be going to the memorial in Marietta, GA on Sat. It's at 1130 if you're in the area.
I think his Vette was a Z06. They came with Supercar tires which are great for performance, but scary on wet surfaces. Don't know any more details. God bless him.

I've flown with Pat twice before she got fired.........and I figure it's easy: whoever flys with her simply write her up. Contact Standards and/or ALPA and let them know what happened. Because something will happen out of the ordinary with Pat, and it'll probably be against the FOM or FARs..........I still have a copy of the letter I wrote up about her.

I've never met the woman but if even half of the stories are true it would certainly make the flight quite a bit more interesting ... does anybody really think she'll be back? Seems unlikely to me?
