Default FDX/UPS plus Weather

I get done with a trip this evening in DTW. I'm expecting my evening flight to OKC will cancel because of the winter storm in OKC. How likely is it that UPS or FDX will go to OKC in the morning with weather? I am planning on taking one of the two, (whoever has seats). However, I'm wondering if I will end up stranded in MEM or SDF. Also, how proactive are they in these scenarios? If I call about 7pm eastern tonight will they already have an idea?

Thanks everyone!

You would have to go through MEM. My experience, as long as the airports are open they will give it a try. But it would be a long night if the weather is bad in MEM. If you don't think there will be a deice event in MEM (none forecast) or if the weather clears up in OKC by 4AM it might be worth a try.

Jumpseats would not be a good source of information.

As Heinlein wrote, "The Roads must Roll". With FedEx, anyway, the flights might be delayed, but will pretty much get there.

"Hear them hum!
Watch them run!
Oh, our job is never done,
For our roadways go rolling along!
While you ride;
While you glide;
We are watching 'down inside',
So your roadways keep rolling along!
"Oh, it's Hie! Hie! Hee!
The rotor men are we-
Check off the sectors loud and strong!
(spoken) One! Two! Three!
Anywhere you go
You are bound to know
That your roadways are rolling along!
(Shouted) KEEP THEM ROLLING!
That your roadways are rolling along!" -RAH

Well my flight on Delta has cancelled. So I booked UPS (FDX was full) DTW-SDF-OKC. Yea the jumpseat number really had no idea. Is there a way I canfind out the lastest information of that flight before heading to the airport (and getting stuck in SDF?)

Thanks.

Looking at the OKC forcast, I would say unless the airport is closed, UPS will no doubt be flying in the morning. 3 miles and light snow will not keep UPS out.

Thanks.

Sorry, but doubtful ... the operating crew won't even find out until they report for duty or later.

Made it home. I would say a major overreaction from OKC yesterday. The grass wasn't even white. Thanks to UPS and the two crews for taking me home last night!
