Default FDX--PBS and cash.....

Heard this one from a fairly reliable source......the driver of bus 617 on the way in from the Demo lot.....

Seriously. We all know how much the company wants PBS. Latest is they are willing to throw somewhere in the neighborhood of an 18-20% pay raise at us if we go for PBS. Imagine what impact THAT would have on dividing the crew force!! Those with only a few years left to retire.....those with three ex-wives......those that repeatedly fly disputed pairings.......yes, it may only be a small percentage of our group that would vote for something like this when they see nothing but dollar signs in front of their eyes, but it is surely something that could splinter our crew force.

Sure, sure. This is one of many rumors we've heard and I hope this is truly just another rumor.....but what if it's not?

discuss.........

We have to talk about it. I am sure the company knows what they are willing to pay to get PBS. We have to decide what we will take to let them implement it. If it costs them too much we get our 3% x 2 or 3 and put it off till the next time.

you can count on at least 15% to 20% of the pilot group furloughed the next day........non commutable lines and no more then 5 days off in a row if you are lucky.......

Flex, I'm one of those senior guys, less than 3 years to go, only 1 ex-wife (but I don't fly disputed pairings). I just don't see what the benefit would be to me. I've got my high 5 so a big pay raise isn't going to be a great benefit to me. In fact, I'd say the benefit is to the junior guys, if they're only interested in $$$. Vacation is more important to me and PBS would be the end of vacation as we ALL know it. All I'm saying here is that your attitude toward the senior guys is pretty far off base. There's no sense trying to drive a wedge between the senior and junior guys.

In other words, how much will it cost to see your QOL go down the drain?

You will be slashing your days off by more then half, and it takes more then one day to get back to a normal human schedule.

So I would say at least a 170% increase in pay and a 4% pension multiplier. Accounts for backing out the taxes and other deductions and gives a about a 30% premium for an early death. But at least your heirs will benefit.

Give me a 100% pay raise and a 300 hour sick bank, and I will take it!

No raise, no increase in sick bank, nothing would make me vote 'yes' for a contract that allows the company to schedule PBS-style.
Instantaneous stagnation/furlough.
There is nothing, nothing that is worth seeing a bunch of your peers/friends/colleagues with the "what do I do now" look on their faces.

Add the clause in that no furloughs, 4a2b can be implemented within the next 15 years. Also all people on property must be able to bid the CA seat or receive passover for the CA seat within 10 years (total) on property. If you're a 9yr F/O, when you hit 10, you are automatically are upgraded to CA if it's in your standing bid at 100%. CA's would be allowed to fly the right seat which would relieve the manning issues.

Early out options must be given as well (with worthy buy outs).

The pay increase must be included as well. There must also be some protection for our vacation system. If flights are available that are not near your vacation, you must be given fair opportunity at these first to maximize the consecutive days off.

Lastly, the union must have a direct hand in the scheduling process and remove the "it's a preference BS" from the company's hand. That would be a permanent provision, and if removed, PBS would be automatically removed as well. The other provisions (auto upgrade, pay, etc..) would remain in place.

Oh - Removal of the "Fleet check / line airman".

Enough of the "only if they will do this" stuff.

The simple answer is - "there isn't anything that will make us accept a PBS style bidding system!"
