The wife doesn't want to leave the Northeast
I've known a number of folks from NY, NJ, Boston, etc who are living in Alaska and never want to go back. You should give it a look; you never know, she might like it! Statistically, MSP is colder than ANC (yeah, that's not saying much). I know that I prefer the cold, often clear and (hopefully) snowy winters of central AK to the wintertime murk and slush that I've seen in the N.E. |

I was THE jumior guy in ANC for a year and lived in Manhattan and commuted out of EWR. Pretty easy! FedEx has a flight a night and there are almost always seats! I also never jumpseated the same day of a trip, but then again, I never had trips, I was on reserve. I always had the last week of the month with carryover to the next month - basically the last and first week of each month, ie. one commute each month.
That was back when ANC lines at Fedex were good. Many had double Dh's. There were a lot of single departure lines.................. Unfortunately, that ain't the case anymore. ANC has very few DH's now ANC has very few Single Departure lines maybe 4 or 5 and they go very senior. ANC has a lot of multi trip departure lines (3 or greater) and it tends to go Junior Reserve tends to go much more Senior in ANC so new guys will be flying the multi departure lines. As a real JR guy, I hate to say it but you are better off commtuing to MEM than ANC. GET Senior thats the ticket |
