Default FDX: Shipping discounts for other pilots

Has this been discontinued?

I heard from a pilot from Omni that they were no longer getting discounts on Fedex shipping.

Default FDX: Shipping discounts for other pilots

Absolutely not. I just shipped 6 boxes of various sizes ranging from 24 lbs - 86 lbs and received substantial discounts as an employee as a pilot for my company

How do you receive the discount? I have a FedEx account, who do ask or show ID
Thanks

I think we get discounted airline employee travel (ID 90's/ID75's) in exchange for the discounted shipping we give other airline employees. The other airline employees really appreciate their FDX shipping privileges and frequently thank me when I jumpseat.

Just for the record ... I believe their shipping privileges are 'Space A' and maybe even temporarily suspended during our peak busy season.

Personally, I'm glad to have the travel privileges for myself and my family. There used to be a 'Green Screen' with personal travel details. Ask the Corporate Travel ladies for the latest details. At one point several years ago we had 'passes' on Southwest for $40/one way leg ... good deal.

To receive your discount, go to FedEx Office or any World Wide Shipping Center and show them your airline ID, works for pilots and FAs. You will receive the same discount we get as FedEx Pilots. Great Deal, especially at XMas time. If you have an account call the 800 # and see if you can fax them a copy of your ID and they should be able to set you up for the discount. That's not a guarantee, but worth a shot.

I asked if I could set-up an account with my ID on file, and also asked if I could have things shipped to me through my account and they said that I must be present at the time of shipment with company ID in order to receive the discount. The person accepting the shipment at the World Shipping Center must actual lay their eyes on your ID. This is just what they told me at the center and on the phone.

As Mark noted above, employee shipping is non-rev. So if doesn't make it to the destination on time, you won't be able to file a claim. Also, if your package is damaged enroute, you're SOL.

FedEx discount shipping is a really good deal. But just know before you go...

Default Other cargo non-rev?

Hi, Does anyone know if other shippers offer non-rev shipping to pilots, specifically Fedex pilots? Say Polar for example? Thanks
