Possible FedEx benefit?
I haven't heard about this before, but I picked up a rumour the other day. Is it true that at FedEx you can carry a family member with you occassionally on a trip that you are flying? I was told you can do it at FedEx and not at UPS. And if so, any stipulations?

Not anymore. Went away some time ago.
We had it at Gemini until ~2000. It's a small clause in the FAR's that permit family members to ride when there is "inadequate airline service."
FDX has no more personal jumpseats at all, even for employees ......

FedEx allowed this way back when in the Falcon days. However, due to abuse, misuse, and growth in the legal dept that privlage was lost in the late 70's.
Sadly, the jumpseat benefit for the employees has gone away now too.

He had nothing to do with the current situation. Personal jumpseating was reinstated sometime after 9/11. It was a matter of several employees randomly jumpseating around the system with no luggage. When checked out, they turned up on the no-fly watch list. Right after that, employee personal jumpseating was banned.
