Not defending the offending, but I took it more as an indictment on how UPS handled the Challenge Air guys, leaving them on the street. Big Brown is a ruthless entity to everyone they "deal" with. If they could they'd outsource their own pilots' job to India and put us all on the street.

I don't know how true the story was, but Big Brown not taking the Challenge pilots had alot to with their being Eastern scabs

Of course that was then and now the CAC (Centurian Air Cargo) pilot force is a different breed.

Smart bidding will help but the potential to be gone 3 weeks in a row is there. The often overlooked part is that with homebasing, you're not burning days off to get to work nor do you have to move.

Unless you do it to yourself - bid back to back stretches between two months, the longest you can be out is 19 days per the contract.

The talk is for more DC-10's pax birds coming but who knows  Don't worry about the panel, there is a long line of over 60 guys looking to jump in.
I believe the above mentioned DC-10s were NWA's that ATA recently purchased.

If UPS were to acquire World its not "probable" but "damn likely" the pilots would be on the street. You dont have to like it and can get as upset as you like. But,, thats just the way it is.

How many companies have we bought? Techniclly none, but we did buy the assets of Challenge. UPS didn't take any of the pilots, but that has a lot to do with the fact that they were not unionized and had no ability to force UPS to take any of them.

Challenge Air guys, leaving them on the street.

I'm confused? I thought UPS bought Chalange Air aircraft and some routes, not the airline itself, am I wrong? Also, didn't they offer interviews to most Chalange Air pilots?

That is all that they bought, the assets and not the airline itself. No Challenge pilots that I know of were interviewed and certainly none were hired.
