Default FedEx MD11 FOs, check your landings...

Just back from vacation & noticed that the MD11 does not print the summary report when you get the "Closed via ACARS" message. Thought well that is nice another piece of paper I don't have to throw away. After a few days of flying I checked my landings, NONE had been credited to me. What the heck? So thought it odd but maybe I messed up twice & gave the Capt the landing. Next landing, MINE, submitted as MINE via ACARS, no credit? Called flight ops & asked that these landing on these legs need to be credited to me.. no problem, done. Submitted pilot OPS report. Fast forward, new trip, MD10 still prints the summary report & Capt made the landing, Capt given the landing via ACARS & summary shows Capt as landing, all good. Next leg MD11, FO given the landing, "closed via ACARS", no summary report, NO credit for landing via VIPs "Landing/HUD currency".

So please check your landings & tell me if the black helos are just circling me..

I'm out on long term SCK leave, I haven't flown at all in the last 3 months ... it shows that I have 8 of your landings.

I have noticed this as well but only on the jets with updated ACARS software. You can tell by the absence of the IRS drift input screen & lack of close out printing. Anyone else been able to correlate this update with the landing issue? I called coordination 3 days later when I noticed a couple of landings missing & they gave me grief because I didn't call within 24 hours...funny since I had no printout to catch it on my end w/in 24 hours.

There are definite ACARS issues. Been getting a lot of messages saying to acknowledge W&B after taxi out even though we did.

I've been noticing the same issues.

It seems the ACKNOWLEDGE W & B is coming after raising the 2nd fuel lever on the MD-11.

The new closeout software doesn't retain input information after you page through (like I always would do to check my work). You input the information on Page 1, Input the stuff on the Delays page, realize you didn't put in the drifts and groundspeeds, page all the way through, the stuff you put on Page 1 has dropped out, back to the delays page, and the delays have dropped out.

My best advice until they get the problems fixed is to NOT go back to page 1. Get it filled in correctly the first time, and then SEND. Chances are better at getting successful, accurate closeout than if you scroll back through to double-check your work. Double-checking erases your work.

I think the w/b message may be generating if you don't use the hyperlink accept/reject prompt on the last page of the Final.

EG-watching the manifest number autofill and then sending the acknowledgement message

The label on that prompt is a misnomer. It doesn't Accept or Reject anything -- it only takes you to the page where you select an ACCEPT or REJECT message to be sent.

In any event, the error occurs even when it's accessed in that fashion. The reason it may appear to be "sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't" is because they've installed the software update on some airplanes, and not others.

Just got an email from the guy that has been working on the problem since my pilot OPS report. Yes, there is a problem and it is with the jets that have the updated ACARS. Don't know how long before the fix can be installed. But at least they are aware of the problem & working on it.
