Status of recalls at UPS.

What is latest status of recalls at UPS? Is there still 44 on furlough going into peak? Thanks.

Yep, that sounds like an accurate number. Peak is a non-event. What flying cannot be covered by "management" will easily be covered by contractors.

I have only been here a short time but my experience is that PEAK is the quietest time of the year....for me anyway

My guess is no recalls until that chit is redeemed during contract negotiations.

Of course my last 10 predictions about recalls have been wrong.

Yep, they over-schedule then either cancel you or reschedule you. Anything left over goes to the contractors first then NURPS! That is until the huge snowstorm hits SDF or having to use runway 29 the week before Christmas, then things get interesting!

As far as recalls, absolutely no news on when that day might actually occure.

Anyone with any type of prediction about recalls, Postal contracts, and work/rest rules is guessing at best. There is no discernible logic and just when you think you understand UPS they will surprise you and it's been more often bad than good lately.

With that said, UPS has always stated recalls would be completed in 2014.

Expectation Zero....

Learn it, live it, love it.

We are flying approx. 1700 block hours less per pay period this year than last. The average line right now fly's about 44 hours of hard block. That puts us about 39 guys fat purely by the block hour numbers. I believe this (38) is about how many retirement we will have this year. Only shrinking noises heard at UPS:mad:

Based on what? Where do you get 39 guys fat? I check my seniority more frequently than I care to admit. I just noticed I gained 9 spots in the last week and 22 since July.

More than just mandatory retirements since the market is so high right now. We are approaching 2500 total pilots.
