Heavy Cargo Wannabe??

Now, to set this straight, I am not advocating any prospective pilot fly fatigued and compromise safety. But what I am saying is there's usually a story behind those who busted their a$$ to get on here (or any major for that matter). There will be sacrifices, disappointments, and yes, even some very long days along the way.

Hey AirHoss.....Not ALL of us are lucky enough to have our names painted under a shiny canopy. For those lucky enough to be in that category, good on you and thanks for your service. However, there are those of US that busted our A$$'s to get this job along a different path because it was, and still is, our dream job.
I happen to be one of those guys that did sling boxes and also logged 1000 a year in all kinds of $hit weather for 25 grand a year. I will guarantee you that my path to this airline wasn't easy. I'll also guarantee you that my commitment helped me to earn it.
If dedicating yourself to working two jobs because your dream has always been flying at FedEx is called irresponsible then something tells me you won't be on the interview board anytime soon.

Oh yeah, I've been on hiring boards in the past as well as that LCA thing ETC ETC. But you're right since I don't work for FedEx I'm pretty sure that I'll never bee on a hiring board at that airline.

I'm sure the interview board would mighty impressed when you tell how you worked a 6 hour shift doing whatever - even throwing boxes for them - and THEN went out and flew a plane load of people around ALL DAY after a 5 hour period of rest.
I know that if I were on your hiring board I'd want to know if you planned to blow off your crew rest requirements and planned to fly fatigued on a regular basis.

Alright - now that is a crazy statement.

I am sorry, where did I say I had a 5 hour rest period? Oh, that's right...I didn't. If you are going to make $hit up, preface it with "this isn't what he said but I am going to say it anyway cuz it sounds good".

I would expect a "moderator" to at least factually represent the post before he makes a crazy statement:
"Worked a 6 hour shift doing whatever" - Never said that
"Flying ALL DAY" - Never said that
"Blow off crew rest" - Never said that
"Planned to fly fatigued" - Never said that
I swear, this forum is the same 30 guys casting aspersions and complaining NON-STOP.
The post was from somebody LOOKING FOR HELP AND ADVICE and it turns into "you didn't punctuate this"....."you misspelled that"...."you said this".

Assumption much? CFI, charter, canyon tours, Alaskan Bush, fire figting, corporate, Non sched DC-8's, major airlinesx2 ....(Not Fed Ex BTW) and never was in the military. I have had I'm sure my name painted on some bathroom stalls over the years however if that counts?
Never said you flew in the military. Sounds like a great resume.
I doubt you busted your a$$ any harder than I did for equally lower wages.
Subjective, opinions are like A$$XDJS, everybody has one.
None of us with very rare exception, who are at a legacy or a major freight company did so without some serious commitment.
Perhaps, but I didn't...nor would I, doubt your commitment so don't doubt mine.
I've worked two and three jobs to make ends meet when coming up the ladder. I've even worked an extra job or two to make ends meet after getting here. But showing up to fly after working all night, night after night, is not the smartest thing you can do. In fact it's the definition of bad idea.
NEVER SAID THAT - You did

You may not have said those things but you were defending a person who worked from 8PM-2AM throwing boxes and THEN flew from 7AM ALL DAY!!! Then he threw boxes again that night...
7-2=5. That's FIVE hours that you said was ok to do because he wanted it so badly that safety doesn't matter. Not to mention that was when he got off of work vs. show time to fly. NOT five hours of sleep. If you think it is OK to blow off sleep when flying passengers around you need to have your head checked.
