Default Last DC-10 passenger fllight

Picked this up today on the website of USA Today.

The DC-10 makes its last regularly scheduled commercial flight

I didn't know the DC-10 was that far along in the extinction process. For those of us still flying the freighter -10, its a not so subtle reminder just how old some of the aircraft we fly are.

They all have 4 stripes. Management crew?

I can't believe they weren't wearing kilts!

I jumpseat on FedEx a lot, and I look at the manufacturers placard every once and a while just for schnitz-and-giggles. I think the oldest one I've seen was made in 1971:-0 Always assumed this is an old American bird?

I predict that a DC 3 crew will pick up the crew of the last "797-400" to fly.

I've parked next to those in Abu Dhabi. Amazed they were still being used for pax runs. If Bangladesh stops using them, it really is the end of the road.

Still looks like the original seats from the 1970s are in there!

The problem with jets like the DC-10 isn't their ability to stay in the air. It's the fuel cost. As jet fuel rises, it punishes older jets to the point where you just can't make money.

Probably the old seats that FedEx took out when they converted it to a freighter?
