Postal contract stuff
Have not seen much day flying for a long while, looks like other aircraft don't have it either .............. Does anyone know if the Postal revenue is being trucked or transported via rail, instead of being flown ? The question begs a deeper explanation but don't want to ask it on this forum however it seems that the last go around of Postal contract afforded us a lot of daytime flying albeit we were in a much better economy ................ What say you ???

I'm glad we're not losing any of that crapy night flying on the bus.

The Airbus has lost virtually ALL of its daytime flying ................ where did it go ???
I realize that other airframes have taken some of it, such as the MD flying. But if you look at the other airframes bidpacks and what has been awarded, there is not that much daytime flying around ................. I suspect that what I have been hearing is true to form, that Company is moving the mail contract revenue using other methods ................. we are not seeing the traditional flight schedules that existed the first time around with the Postal contract, for sure. I heard of a train going out of Memphis the other day that was loaded full of our revenue ................ Union Question : Does our scope policy allow for such movement of revenue outside of flying it ??? |

Union Question : Does our scope policy allow for such movement of revenue outside of flying it ??? Yes it does and here's a novel concept..... Try reading the contract and see what it says about scope. If the railroads are taking "our" revenue, does that make them pseudo "scabs"? The real answer is the new postal contract has lower margins, so the company is using other (cheaper) modes than air to transport volume. There is intense pressure on the FDX BOD to increase margins and you will continue to see express volume siphoned off to other cheaper methods where service can still be met. Oh, you can thank UPS of that! |
