While on the subject a 50% increase in Sick in the Field would probably make the bean counters squirm. Hey, I wasn't sick enough to see a doctor when I started my trip.

Tony,

Yep $30 but you get to put on your next medical application that you visited urgent care because FedEx flight operations did not believe that you were unfit for duty. Now there is a FAA record of the company second guessing your fitness for duty and your AME has to sign off on it.
Puts it all on the company. Works great. The FAA will contact your AME.

I'm going to take a picture of the Tylenol Cold and Flu box along with a copy of the receipt the next time I get sick. I'm trusted to operate an MD11 worldwide but not to self medicate when I need to do so? Sad state of affairs round here.

It is my understanding they are essentially self insuring so they do pay. Perhaps we can request a battery of tests to rule out black death every time your hay fever kicks up. Maybe the union can run up a sample list of tests to check for that wont run up your copay.

Dear Doctor Dewivedi,

My company demands proof that I have visited a Doctor for my cold, please provide me a sick note. While I am here it would probably be prudent to check for black death, scurvy, malaria, whooping cough, rabies, menopause, low T, lead poisoning or any other tests that you can think of to help you make your car payment.

Sincerely,

FDX MEC Pilot
Don't forget kennel cough, parvo & the piles.

He is directly referred to as the the "primary architect" of the STS (Sick Tracking System) in the Grievance Letter. Nice.

Our "batting average" on all the grievances against the company is horrible...

If our Grievance guy (CB) was a pitcher...he'd be pulled and replaced. After his track record - he needs to be traded to another team - like to a little league team. There is no way we can do worse than his track record.

I don't understand why we as a group tolerate such poor performance. It appears we enjoy a good a$$ kicking from time to time. No wonder management runs over us like a bulldozer.

He is pre-Dave Webb. Has been there way to long. The only dealing I had with him was a grievance I filed in 2009. A worthless experience to say the least.

You're making the assumption that every pilot is on company medical. I know of several who have to stick the cost to the federal government (tricare) and pay a copay when the company wants documentation

Doesn't exactly seem ethical when you know you'd self medicate for an issue but are now forced to see a doctor on someone else's dime
