Hot off the press Fedex update

Planned fleet numbers by the end of 2007 total 364 trunk aircraft with a net increase of 20 wide
body aircraft. End state 2007 plan shows:

94 B727-200’s
66 A310’s (+3)
63 A300/600’s (+12)
19 DC10’s (-11)
64 MD10’s (+13)
58 MD11’s (+3)

we are planning a large system bid for the April/May time frame.
This bid should recognize the system form changes through 2008 associated with the 757
introductions, DC10 conversions, 727-100 retirements and possible FDA opportunities.

Just imagine all those widebody f/o's, those that are "part of the problem," suddenly able to bid narrowbody captain and still have EFIS/FMS.....

757 is going to be senior, until there's a hundred of them

That's my thought, too. Sure wouldn't pay to move over from the jurassic jet for the same money and a two year lock-in.

Maybe 757 Captain will go senior.

But 757 FO is going to be interesting. 727 SO's aren't going to want the lateral move and seat lock.

I don't see any wide FO's bidding down.

Very much an unknown on how junior 757 FO will go. I'm anticipating newhires into it.

That seems to mean we have 30 right now. As best as I can figure, we only have 25. We've lost 2 since I started flying 'em in September.

Hmmmmmm.

OK guys, drawing a blank.........

"FDA opportunities"???????

I found it interesting that we're also purchasing, installing, and certifying the 757 and 777 sims essentially before training gets going in earnest.

Foreign Duty Assignment (European domicile? Pacific Rim domicile?)

From Section 2 Definitions:

41. FOREIGN DUTY ASSIGNMENT

An assignment of a pilot to a base outside the United States, or its territories,
designated by the Company, for greater than 3 bid periods. A pilot holding an FDA
shall be permanently domiciled in MEM.

??????? I assume you mean 727 FOs. I imagine a 727 SO would jump at the 75 right seat. Even if an SO holds 727 FO, if he hasn't been trained yet, there is no seat lock.
