Not necessarily. Look at US/AA, they have basically one year upgrades to captain. I know it's the -190 but even waiting for something else will probably still be less than 10.

APC shows 14 for Delta and 8 (CAL)- 18 (UAL) for United. These numbers should drop pretty significantly based on upcoming retirements.

If you were a 06-07 hire at UPS, it will be about 18 years to make junior captain in ANC. For those hired recently, it will be around 10-11 since there is a 7 year gap in hiring.

Assuming the retirement age is not raised to 85.

They'd still be flying their double lines (carryover plus), while getting the FO to push their wheelchairs up to the airplane, and prechew their food for them......
Barely anyone would retire early.

Just like the legacy major PAX carriers - trust me.

Same world, different employer.

So, our F/Os would be a bunch of masticators?

Okay, you got me there. I initially thought you said something else.....

I googled it, and yes, at least that's what the other crewmember might desire. It's hard chewing with those false teeth (just ask my dad).

The Guys Hired in 1989 to mid year 1994 were Captains in 4 to 8 years. Late 1994 onward 12 to 16 years. And obviously the Guys Hired in 1988 were Captains Day 1. And are Still Captains today. And still don't leave a day before 64 364 days old.
