Default FedEx Question #2/Many - Class Dates

For the FedExers out there,

After being hired, how long before your actual class start date were you notified of that date?

I think I got the call about 3 weeks prior to starting, I think 3-4 weeks has been the norm.

Just shy of a month for me. Spent almost seven months swimming before actual class date.

Got the call the day before, to start two days late. You just never know.

Thanks for the info, guys. To add onto the question, how did you mil guys work getting out vs class start date? I think my plan now (planning way ahead) is if I get in the pool at all, I'll establish a DOS, since the AF requires 4 months notice.

TinyGiant, I got an over-night letter on a Saturday for a class on Tuesday. Good luck to you!

I made my decision to get out...period. I'm not sure how you can swing it waiting on an interview/class date vs refusing/taking an assignment. Good luck lining up the dates. Maybe the Guard or Reserve could be an option while you wait on FedEx or other opportunities outside active duty.

The days of terminal leave AND a class date are rather the rarity. I have only met a couple of guys w/i the last year who happened to get a class date either before they went on terminal leave or while they were on terminal leave. The last guy I met just got lucky..... he was called (for some reason) to be one of the purple noobs and I guess he was the test case -- all military fast time, no previous 121 experience. He was VERY lucky.
