Default World or Omni?

Upgrade 6-12 months at Omni, but which is really better now and 5-10 years from now?

Wait are you serious???
Have looked at their pay? FO almost makes more at WOLD then DC10 CA at OMNI. Plus you don’t fly that much at OMNI. And stability is much better at WOLRD.

World is much better. But edik you don't qualify to work there, you have to be able to spell it correctly at least 50% of the time.

I'd say take the upgrade. Unless you recently interviewed with World. Did you? If not then upgrade and get the PIC time. We've hired a bunch of pilots recently, although I'd surprised if a bunch don't leave in a couple years the way hiring is picking up. If we don't get the promised 744s then upgrades will be really slow at World.
Plus you don’t fly that much at OMNI.
I've wondered about that, I always see numerous OMNI jets parked in ATL. I could stand to fly more at World. It looks like things should pick up in the near future for both airlines.

I got plenty of PIC so I don't really care about more PIC that much. Im in the pool at World and have spoken briefly to Omni in the meantime. With Omni's apparent attrition rate raising a red flag, I keep hearing tons of complaints about Omni despite the quick or immediate upgrades, while World definately has work rules and a contract that Omni does not have. If looking just at pay, a World FO pays almost the same as an Omni CA even if you don't upgrade at World.

That leaves quality of life and career stability to think about....

I opted to go in to the pool at world for personal reasons. I was to be in the class that started this Wed. I have to say that I would not touch Omni with a 10 foot pole.
I know a few people over there and they get worked to the bone. Most are out at least 30 days and sometimes over 40. They are not given the time off like the World drivers. If you are looking for a fourth stripe them Omni may be for you. It does not go on senority though. You need to know the secret handshake. Most guys that I know say it sucks, but they will make about 90K as a capt. Maybe if you are a single guy with no family it could be a good place, but if you have either I would strongly caution you.
