Just curious, was this an internal memo or just thru the grapevine?

From another thread:

UPS Announces Hiring Delay

UPS has informed the Association of the Company’s plan to delay the start dates of the 24 crewmember candidates previously scheduled to begin training in late March and April.

According to UPS, this action is due to an “internal operational review of staffing needs.” UPS also states the review will be completed “in the near future,” and that it “looks forward to resuming the training process as soon as possible.” UPS is in the process of contacting each of the individuals affected.

The Association disagrees with any delay in training for these pilots, no matter how short or long. Having been given specific UPS training class dates in March and April, these 24 pilots have made career decisions based on UPS’s commitment to them. To do anything other than to honor that commitment is, in the IPA’s opinion, wrong and unconscionable. We have communicated those sentiments and our objections directly to upper UPS management.

The Association will keep the membership informed as events develop on this important subject.

Fraternally,

IPA Executive Board

Yes. the Opentime *****s are out in force this last year. All the louisville blowhards who say how great SDF is are picking up all the open time in seconds.

This gives them the satisfaction for living there. This is why we aren't hiring hundreds and canceling New Hire classes. Hope you guys feel good about it.

Has anyone brought up the fact that it's FDX-ALPA's fault?

Seriously though...That is a disgraceful way to operate a business.

Sorry for the 24 poor bastards who got screwed by this. It was told to me a long time ago, FedEx was an airline that bought trucks, and that's how it's run. UPS was a trucking company that bought planes, and that's how it's run.

You know that the IPA had to give up something to get KCM. Now you know what it was.

Highly unlikely. KCM doesn't cost nearly as much as the benefits and salary for even 1 person never mind 24.

"The Japanese transport ministry has decided to raise the retirement age for airline pilots to 67 from 64 to cope with a shortage in pilots."

A harbinger of things to come here in the US, and UPS got tipped off to it by some of those expensive Washington people in their pockets?

When you are not hiring, there is no shortage.
