Evidently they need an 11 guy to head up the 'purple maggot' program.
Maybe that is what Jack will name us after we continue to fly past age 60?

I spoke with Charlie and Steve this morning.

Because there are so many MD-11 guys, and so few DC-10 guys, with the numbers going up and down respectively each month, the plan is to combine them all, and then split them between managers. Eric will be the other MD-11/DC-10 guy.

It was also explained that some of the movement is movement that was delayed to get us through contract implementation and the holidays. As such, it has been planned, and is not a sudden shift in directions.

That still leaves a few questions unanswered, but take it for what it's worth.

So what do you think? If Eric (standards on the MD11) is going to fill an ACP job maybe Steve McCabe is going to fill the SCP position. Both are great guys, maybe the management around here is going to change for the better.
Dyson said "an additional ACP position." Read that as "B757 ACP." I don't think Steve is in the running anymore for SCP.

Just a hunch.....

Gotta say, I like all the changes. From the new ACP's to the MD training program, I think we are getting good folks in the right places. 72 is about to have a new guy soon as well.

See my post above -- the additional ACP position is the "Co-ACP" of the combined MD-11/DC-10 gang.

Tell.....about the 27? All I know is that DS wants to fly his last 6 months, so they are accepting resumes for the position. The person groomed for the job - SG - would be the logical choice and would do a fine job IMHO.

As far as the other stuff, everyone I talk to likes the direction and leadership in the MD-11 program. Aside from the 757 - which won't be fully up and running for a while, that a/c is where most of the growth is and consequently, also where most of the training is.

I think we all resist change to a certain degree. We get in a comfort zone and when somebody comes in proposing change, it is rebuffed. There are some very forward thinking people out there and that is the only way we can evolve is through change. Take the superflex program for example. Everybody hates it, but most don't understand how it's to be implemented. From how it was explaine to me, it makes sense.

Regarding the choices for our ACP's, the interactions that I have had with those folks have been all positive. Therefore, I am personally satisfied with the general direction that management is going with the folks they are selecting as the new manager's.
