Yeah, they are great schedules. The seat can sometimes be a hassle though. I did 3+ years and a little IOE on it. If you are doing it by the book it is the highest workload of all the fleets (pre-departure).

you're right. the pre-departure work and inflight stuff is definitely overwhelming at first. It looks like the right seat is the best seat in the house on the 8.

Thanks Redeye. I did take the combined test.

Damn skippy, it is! Talk about a walk in the park. I do, however, have sympathy for the engineers. I was lucky to only do it for a year, but I like my current seat! ;) Especially when it is so cold outside. :D

Sounds similar to the 727 window seat, when I was at Delta.

"Window heat, pitot heat, what's to eat?"

Just curious....at UPS, does the FE do the walk around, log book, run checklists, etc. At Delta, the FE was definitely the bit*h. Or as the 727 cockpit hierarchy was so eloquently explained to me by some redneck ATL Capt......"Son, don't think of the Capt, FO, and FE as such....think more in terms of massa, bubba, and boy...and you're the boy, get it?" Good times....

Archie,
The F/E (on the 8 anyway) is indeed the b!tch. It takes 45 mins (by the book, no short cuts) to get the plane ready to go. And thats with your hair on fire. No worries though. You probably won't ever see the panel.
