Default IFL vs. Everts

I am getting close to pulling the trigger but need honest advice.

I can be a Capt at either which does not really matter other than pay.
It really comes down to the better position. DC-9 Capt vs. 727 capt. I did just read that Evert's is now accepting non type rated EMB-120 pilots where as before you had to be typed which I guess means they aren't getting anyone?

EVERTS
Have to load and Unload! This has to be really hard.
Pay is lower (Commuting expenses at IFL?).
Not sure about the bennies?
BUT...
They get you tickets to/fr the airplane with hotel.
Same roster 20 on 10 off.
Call out time?

IFL
I don't think you have to unload/load but not sure? 727
Pay is higher but must pay for own lodging at PTK or LRD.
Commuting to either base would be almost impossible, especially on jumpseats.
Again, not sure about the bennies but they are important. Ie; Medical/Dental.
Better rep than Everts.
:20 min call outs and I would think LOOONNGGG days and nights.

If IFL had home basing, if they get short enough and desperate enough they may, it would be a great position!

The ad on 350 for IFL says excellent pay but I do not think 75,000$ is excellent for a Captain for 20 days on call 24/7, but that is just opinion. I think Kalitta pays better but I do not want to go there as I have read they fire people all the time.

Please chime in and thank you.

Watch out when it comes to Everts.... Know a couple guys who had terrible experiences there. Also, it is true that they can't find anyone to fill classes and they continue to lose people. If you do end up going there, I'd have everything in writing.. Good luck and I'm sorry your career has taken you to this.

Edit at ifl you also do your own flight plans and have to do both weight and balance and the dispatch release by hand, yes seriously. The make you pen and ink the entire release. They don't have dispatchers like the rest of the supplimental world.

From the guys that I'm know that have left ifl in the last year, it's the bottom of the barrel for the on demand side of 121. Yes you load freight and fly 24 hour duty days often. Everts might be ok, just ok, nac and Kalitta charters migh be better bets though.

I think the comment is quite appropriate. A pilot having to accept abusive treatment to the extent of loading an MD80,,, pretty sad if someone had to take such a job. Telling him to take the stick out,,, now that is not cool.

I've never understood insurance stuff. When I was at IFL I got the basic plan. I went to the eye doctor for new glasses, a friend was working the front desk. She ran my insurance and said, "Wow, you have really good insurance. Like wow, this is, the best I've seen. You can have every like every option we have".
