Wannabe ACMI/freight pilot

I'm at the regionals looking for a place I can stay for either a while or long time, Atlas has been my goal, but applying for years and 2 guys walk my resume in, I haven't heard anything yet. Even went to the job fair. Right now I'm at 2600TT but with 0 121 PIC time. My dad is at K4 and will try to get me an interview despite not having 5000Tt.

Applied to National, Centurion, Sky Lease and Southern, but nothing yet. I'd be happy to sit and do IRO for a few years. I've called the HR depts. at all of the places forementioned, but either voicemail or no call back.

Any suggestions as of how I can get my foot into the door? I've jumpseated on Atlas/Polar and K4 a few times, but still nothing.

Which regional are you at? A lot of the guys at K2 are leaving for the regionals for the 117 schedule.

Everts Air Cargo. DC-6s and DC-9s in ANC. MD-80s home based in L48. Classes forming now. Go to Everts Air Cargo

Two Everts jet pilots are in Atlas class right now.

Walk over to ANC ops and meet the Chief Pilot. Can't hurt, could help! Have your buds make it clear on your rec letters that you live in ANC. Should help since that's the junior base currently. Good luck.

Your lack of TPIC time is likely holding you back from the airlines you have applied to. Before I upgraded I could never understand what the big deal was about PIC time. Once I became a Captain I understood. Potential employers are looking for those that have already proven they can be the PIC.

Try Omni- we have hired quite a few regional pilots lately. Not cargo (yet), but it has that ACMI lifestyle you are longing for!

I'd think long and hard about going to a place like Everts. Getting stuck in a DC-6 isn't going to help with your career progression, especially if you're an Engineer. Go to where you will build time in a modern jet. Hopefully once you get your TT up above 3000 -3500 you'll start getting some calls. Good luck.

For an opportunity to fly with my Dad I would hold out for K4 even if it took a while.

I assume you meant K4 right? So 747 first officers are leaving to go to fly regional jets? Very interesting and something I did not realize was happening. Must be quite a hit in pay.
