It will be really interesting to see what kind of impact this has on FedEx express. With the time it has taken to gain approval, I'd guess the company has an execution plan teed up. Rumors I've heard include us bringing on 737's, or just contracting most of the flying to subcontractors. I doubt the Cologne base can grow enough to support the added flying. And the current political/cultural climate in Europe is starting to make Memphis look peaceful. Regardless, I don't see a down side of this for us or the company.

It is certain that TNT was going to shutdown operations. I think that was a key factor in the EU decision. I don't believe FedEx can hire its pilots outright. But if their air operations are contracted out, than I'd guess those sub-contractors could use former TNT pilots. I think there are different rules for other TNT employees. Like ground handlers and drivers. Given the paths forward, I think FedEx buying TNT is the best option current TNT employees could hope for.
