Navy guys: you know these folks?

I'm guessing there's one shuttle pilot in Houston that's sleeping on the couch tonight:

Full story here....

A NASA astronaut is being held without bail after police say she attacked her rival for another astronaut's attention at Orlando International Airport Monday.

Lisa Marie Nowak drove more than 12 hours from Texas to meet the 1 a.m. flight of a younger woman who had also been seeing the astronaut Nowak pined for, according to Orlando police.

Nowak -- who was a mission specialist on a Space Shuttle Discovery flight last summer -- was wearing a trench coat and wig and had a knife, BB pistol, and latex gloves in her car, reports show. They also found diapers, which Nowak said she used so she wouldn't have to stop on the 1,000-mile drive. Reports show that after U.S. Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman's flight arrived, Nowak followed her to the airport's Blue Lot for long-term parking, tried to get into Shipman's car and then doused her with pepper spray.

Nowak, 43, is charged with attempted kidnapping, battery, attempted vehicle burglary with battery and destruction of evidence. Police considered her such a danger that they requested she be held without bail in the Orange County Jail, reports show.

A married mother of three, Nowak told police that she was "involved in a relationship with," Bill Oefelein, another NASA astronaut, which she categorized as "more than a working relationship but less than a romantic relationship," according to the charging affidavit.

Oefelein, who piloted the most recent shuttle flight in December, could not be reached Monday night at home in Houston.

Friends with benefits. Hmmm

Spaaace maaaadnessss! Loved Ren & Stimpy. Why does my wife think I'm a juvenile delinquent?

Lippy 02-06-2007 06:16 AM

You gotta love a woman that will sh!t in a diaper... for her man.

GBU-24 02-06-2007 06:42 AM

WOW! People can be so funny. Diapers for a crew of 7, a great view from space for 12 days, one psycho knife and BB gun toting astronaut,…the extra-vehicular docking maneuver…priceless!

She's a classmate of mine from the Boat School. I guess the radiation from space must have gotten to her. What a freak. I guess she's the best of the best. Maybe our space program is in trouble.

capt_zman 02-06-2007 01:09 PM

Did you bang her, tell her you loved her and then leave her stranded at Boat School? :)

Sounds like somebody screwed her up pretty badly. She sure wasn't going to let this guy get away.

Albief15 02-06-2007 01:12 PM

Had lunch with my bride today of 18 years, who held my hand, looked into my eyes, and said "I love you honey but I won't ride 900 miles in my urine to beat the crap out of another woman who talks to you..."

And I thought she truely loved me. So guys--in case your wondering, the standard for dedication has just been raised a few notches.

Archie Bunker 02-06-2007 01:23 PM

I just saw her court appearance on CNN.....released on $10K bail with a tracking device strapped to her ankle. I guess it really does pay to have a good lawyer. Maybe she'll get promoted to flag rank now...you know, fu*k up, and move up!

As for our space program.....NASA is already in full damage control. Steve Lindsay (NASA bigwig astronaut) was on CNN talking her up. The whole thing is pretty darn creepy.

That's funny I don't care who you are.....

Sin can happen to anyone . . . no one is above it, yet, this is no excuse, I hope and pray that this will all end soon with the best results . . . and then all involved will be able to move on.

MD11Fr8Dog 02-06-2007 02:21 PM

Jetjok wants to know where to get some of those NASA diapers! :D

Imagine being trapped in spaced with her!

Deuce130 02-06-2007 02:25 PM

You'd think a NASA rocket scientist would come up with a better plan. Better yet, you'd think that SOMEWHERE along that 900 mile drive, say New Orleans or Mobile, she would've come to the conclusion that she was nuts and about to do something seriously stupid. But then again, just goes to show you, no woman is safe from those pilot types...

So, who's in line after these two for NASA jobs? Definitely a couple of openings in the near future.

Magenta Line 02-06-2007 02:33 PM

The REAL difference I see here is the difference between the USAF and USN. The Navy uses diapers, the USAF doesn't p*ss on itself. The Navy uses a bb gun, the USAF would use a 357.

You see, we've known all along that this "boat thing" you guys in the Navy do has long term psychological repercussions. Throw women into the mix and you get a pretty potent psycho-somatic she-b!tch from hell.

If I was her, I'd use the "PMS" defense.

mike734 02-06-2007 02:35 PM

They say crazy chicks are the best in bed. I'm thinking, she must be pretty good.

As I heard on the radio...it was almost "The Right Snuff"!

But....did she have a sock puppet?

Laughing_Jakal 02-06-2007 03:41 PM

Deuce

I thought for sure the Male astronaut in question was going to be a certain Shadow guy that went that route. Ask SR.....he was her fav....not.

His ex went psycho on him. Thought he had that affect on everyone.

Huck 02-06-2007 04:31 PM

Albie, my wife said she may drive 900 miles to whip some ass, but only after stepping over my cold, bloody body.....

I don't know about that CE750. In my book, the male involved in this triangle must have something special to make one of the most vetted women on the planet sacrifice God, Country, and Family for his MOJO. It may not be the "Right Stuff" but he could make a serious fortune if he could bottle it. By the way, many of the astronauts from the past were not without their own indiscretions.

There's a lot of people who have been saying that for a lot of years.... Although I think NASA did a good job of getting us into space in the 50's and too the moon in the 60's.... Not too many great things have happened since. The space shuttle while the "latest and greatest" in the 80's is now a jurrasic hunk of crap and while newer spacecraft concepts (x-33 and X-34) have come along NASA has canned them. Which is a shame since there was an X-34 that was only weeks from flying when the program got dropped.... and now what is NASA spending money on the CEV (a modernized step back to Apollo) that's brilliant. The real shame with some of the space technology that we have not progressed on is that some of it was envisioned and studied by the Nazi's back in the 40's. Such as Dr. Sangers Silver Eagle.... http://www.luft46.com/misc/sanger.html bottom line the idea of hypersonic aerospace planes is an old one where no progress has been made... (almost of 70 years of no progress to be exact) and sadly has these ideas gone through when they were though up who knows how much farther along we would be by now.... Personally I think NASA has seen its day and now that day has long since passed. Bottom line I hope companies like Scaled Composites go in develope more and better ships and eat their lunch....

Somehow, I think that attempted pre-meditated murder and kidnapping rise above the level of "indiscretions."

You've got to be kidding or unable to read and interpret colloquial American English if you think in any way that my comments were in any way attributed toward the alleged perpetrator of these crimes much less pre-meditated murder and kidnapping.

Please don't compare an extra marital affair or two to Pre-meditated Kidnapping and attempted murder.

An affair is an indiscreation............what she "allegedly did was.........well Sick"

SG - you know how a girl knows that her date with a pilot is half over?

It's when he says, "But enough about me. Let's talk about airplanes!"

I haven't "seen the light" yet, it was only a first date! :p ;)

He isn't a miserable type who sits around complaining and talking about himself or is PO'd at the world, so it's a distinct possibility I may "see the light!" :D

The really scary thing is that those astronauts take the same exact psych test that is given to our pilot candidates. Now what does that say?;)
