As for the statement that we are a shrinking airline, we have only lost 2 airplanes that we were flying both owned by DHL and were transferred to the sandbox under DHL operations.

We were supposed to have 10 Amazon planes, brother. There has not been a captain upgrade in over a year. I'm not sure what you are trying to defend or why, but ABX is not doing well in a rapidly expanding industry and we just got kicked in the sack by our 'sister' airline.

Fact is it’s still a 20+ years to the left seat, NOT even any talk of upgrades or adding aircraft, continual threats of furlough or surplus if you don’t cave in to management demands, reserve lasts forever, 2/27 is over a 7% fleet reduction that no other airline in the industry is doing.
Still negotiating for a CBA after 3+ years with no dates scheduled in the future. I know what I would do....

tiredofjrm 04-06-2018 12:08 PM

I didn't mean that NAC would get the airplanes, only that we would lose 2-3 airplanes worth of work. Its not like anyone at ABX is out there looking for new work for us. We do not have a sales department. ATI has been getting all the new work coming in the door.

WHEN we lose the NAC work (this summer), Hete will be more than happy for find someone to take over the leases on those airplanes. There will be downgrades due to this. There aren't enough retirees in pipeline to compensate for the loss of that amount of work.

Plus, IF we don't renew all of the DHL contracts this fall, there will be furloughs as well.

This is not the place anyone should come to. There is no future here.

Sad, really sad. Wilmington is only 45 min from my house and I could have made a career there, instead I had to leave after I realized what managements plan was (shrink ABX to nothing/grow ATI). What a **** poor effort on managements part. The 151’s will rebound but I really feel bad for the guys late in their career. They are talented but management isnt. What a joke of a management team.

I’m not trying to defend anything, just hear continuously that ABX is a shrinking airline and I don’t agree with that. What we were supposed to get and what we do receive is always a toss up and the strike upset that cart. I still have hopes that we will again continue to grow. If I felt otherwise I sure as hell wouldn’t be here.

What do you call it when you start out with a higher number of pilots and end with less or when you start with a certain number of planes and end with less? If that's not shrinking then I don't know what is...

Oh look, you used the first part of his screen-name, but then change the second part to "cuck". How impossibly clever. Did they turn off the regional forums or something?

My first year at K4 probably grossed more than some of your captains made, why not come over here, make decent money, and get home basing?

I think most folks are waiting just a little longer to see if we can eek out a good contract. Not two years ago, folks were piling out of K4 pretty fast with not much good to say about the place. Things change quick. But I'll admit...I'm getting pretty restless myself...

I would suspect that for some, flying for ACMI carrier is not their ultimate career goal. Too much job hopping not viewed that favorably by personnel/human resources people.

As much as I’d like for your statement to be true, it’s highly unlikely. Every ABX Captain Is topped out.

Most junior Captain hire is 1996!! There’s SO much movement here!! (Sarcasm for the dum dums)

DHL is pulling two more airplanes from ABX. We are losing CVG-IAH-MSY in June and CVG-EWR at the end of next week.

The incredible shrinking airline.

The incredible shrinking airline.

Great.. we can have more reserve coverage now.. Airborne Reserve Services.. this place is a joke..

If you ever wonder the mystery behind how we bid at ABX. In crayon is acceptable too.

tiredofjrm 04-13-2018 07:03 PM

So 2 DHL planes are being parked in the next few months. The email came out today. Then this summer 2 SAS planes will be parked. We will be 20% smaller by the summer.

Please do not waste any of your career years coming here.

P.S Does anyone know of a good gig out there?

johnny150 04-14-2018 07:05 AM

I hope no one comes to this shrinking airline, anyone that is thinking about coming to class or even an interview should steer far way! This place is dead end job.

So the IAH and EWR are not the normal DHL shift-a-roo? I noticed that they are coming up on our schedule but we just lost MSP to Kallitta and thought it was the usually shifting of the deck chairs every year or two but if not that is sad news. Duey, Huey, and Luey are a piece of work.

There isn't any way to spin this as good news, but we are still doing IAH,it's just paired with HRL now. Since HRL was formerly paired with MMMY, I'm assuming that signals MMMY will be the next Mexico route to go to Aerounion. MSY usually had less than 10k lbs of freight both inbound and outbound and didn't really need to be on a 767- my guess is one of the feeder ops will pick it up. Rumor is EWR is going to ACC, which seems odd but maybe they are going to start sending more through JFK- I really have no idea.

All that said, absolutely do not come to ABX right now if you have any other options (including a commuter... I never would have said that 18 months ago). Everything here is toxic.

We are only doing IAH-HRL on Saturdays as we have been. We are continuing to do MTY on weekdays.

I'd like to congratulate those who finally over a year (some almost a year and a half), got a line next month.

On Saturday ABX has been flying Flt 315 CVG-IAH-HRL for quite a while...not a new trip or reroute. I did not see any mention about CVG-HRL-MMY.

Tumbl3weed 04-14-2018 01:37 PM

Pretty sure we can kill this thread...ABX won’t be hiring anymore, and if you have a class date and haven’t cut ties with your current employer...

Cvg-hrl-mmmy has been a long time run.... I am not the guy that sits and studies the routes (I try to pay as little attention to work as possible besides flying the airplane and occasionally wading into the **** show on APC) but I seriously doubt we are doing two different HRL stops.

On the Flight webpage it's been on the flight schedule for the last 2 yrs with a 30+ hr HRL layover. Flt 315

Im gonna level with you- I have no idea what you're talking about. I can tell you I have done cvg-hrl-mmmy and laid over in MMMY well over a dozen times and cvg-iah-hrl is a brand new flight that no one has seen until this bid period. (It may have happened a few times in April, I dunno). There hasn't been any ABX layover in HRL in years, except a few peak season oddities as add ons.
