After the AA TWA snafu, there were some changes in the law. If you look the American Bar association has a 36pg brief which is pretty interesting looking at the McCaskill-Bond statute.

All future mergers will be through the integration method where the end goal is relative seniority post merger on the combined list.

Of course stapling isn't an option. Aleghaney/Mohawk is the the precedental ruling regarding mergers. I just love shaking the tree. How was that JV?

Vito 05-11-2016 04:07 PM

What exactly was the AA/TWA snafu?

Flydaplane 05-11-2016 08:23 PM

Allegheny Mohawk was way before the AA/TWA merger however, the Midwest/ Frontier/ Republic cluster sure wasn't relative seniority.

motorclutch 05-12-2016 04:05 AM

If the merger EVER happens you can rest assured it will be done fairly. Z had been preaching this for sometime now....and Z doesn't lie. How was that JV?

There are entire threads and even books about the above and the US Air / America West merger

The TWA pilots lawsuit is what sprang the bill though. They lost the suite. Then Sen McCaskill and Bond got wrote the bill. They're from St Louise btw a TWA base, connection there.

Its a law and laws are still interpreted. I don't dare go into details or opinion on here. I had rather jump out of a tree at a klan meeting yelling Alla Akbar!

CTR Commander,
I see your point, I was in an AF Reserve squadron when the merger was going down. A lot of arguments ensued between the AA pilots and a few TWA pilots. Suffice to say the TWA pilots were delusional, to a certain degree. I interviewed at TWA in 1994, it was sad. There were guys in my interview class with 1200 hrs TT and zero turbine time, and I'm sure they were hired. If I remember, the pay scale in 1994 was $39/HR for a 757 F/O after year SEVEN!!
