Thats hilarious, you'll love this then, that happened the same year. I personally know someone that did an internship there from UND and then was hired after the internship.

The only way he would have had 1200hrs was flying a Bic Pen during some long nights!!

He's at American now and Im working on my second decade with ATI.... Where we had to start new hires at second year pay to compete with the regionals!

CTR. Gotta ask, is it my understanding that there is no CBA first year pay or are things so bad in the recruiting side that ATI has to "boot" up the pay to get guys through the door? (How was that JV?)

Well its defined in Section 19 A 767FO pay scale as 1yr 59.13 per hour.

59.13(rate) x 56(bug)=1655 per pay check (3311.28 per mo (43,000yr)

keep in mind that we are on a 28 day cycle, paid every other Friday.

The reason for the bump to second was to get applicants. Thats exactly what JV told us in recurrent in person. With commuters offering multiple bonuses it was hard to get new hires.

Vestal in our class. I remember it well because Vestal retreated quickly when asked.

We had a person in our class ask "Hey thats great for new hires. What about us guys that have suffered for 20yrs or those that have been furloughed multiple times?"

Answer "Thats between you and the Union"

person in Class "We aren't going to be able to attract higher time qualified pilots with even second year pay. What do you plan to do?"

Answer "Thats between you guys and the Union"

During break

Person in class "We're going to end up with guys who have DUI's and criminal history etc" (that may not be exact verbatim)
Person in class "ugh damn, I'm sitting right here, this is the only place I have to go" "Im one of those guys" (thats verbatim)

OK gotcha. Thanks, who would have believed it would have gotten this bad? Incidentally, one of the senior "sales guy" told me he loved working with you guys because ABX wasn't competitive in the ACMI market. Basically he was saying that you are third tier with Centurion and Amerijet. Trust me, this guy couldn't sell ***** on a troop train.

[QUOTE=Vito;2127350]What exactly was the AA/TWA snafu?[/QUOTE

Rough Cliff Notes based on my recollection of APA write up ~ circa 2001:

To this outsider, seemed like a combination staple job, and ratio. The #1 TWA pilot (DOH 1967) was placed behind the most junior AAL MD11 Captain (DOH 1985), then subsequent fTWA were slotted at a 1 for 7 ratio, until (I think) 1989 TWA DOH. Those and subsequent fTWA were placed behind Apr. 2001 L-AAL new hires. The rationale given for initial slotting was that TWA's largest a/c was a B767, and thus TWA had no career expectations of being MD11 Captains. I don't recall the rationale, if any, for the 1989-on fTWA staple. I'll leave that to fTWA, or L-AAL to say. HTH........

Wow we are told you guys operate cheaper to us and are more streamlined with a higher launch reliability...

Funny how two faced someone in sales could be

But.......if you bust for any reason, the bust will follow you when you apply to any other carrier. Besides, once we staple you guys we will teach you the proper way of doing things.

I know someone who interviewed yesterday and said they did a dc-9 sim evaluation.

motorclutch 05-12-2016 10:49 AM

Obviously wasn't interviewing at ATI.

100% certain it was. It might have changed for future interviews, but as of yesterday they were still doing it.

You're looking at an old document. The current (J)CBA omitted first year pay for 757/767. Changed the dynamics of the agreement when first year pay suddenly (and for the first time in a long time) became an issue.
