No one Ive talked to is happy over the whole situation. Some have Stockholm Syndrome others are ready to cut throats.

motorclutch 07-17-2016 08:45 AM

We can only hope. Truthfully they have hurt your membership. The problem seems to be that your membership is passive and are willing to accept what they are fed. Many years ago when I flew at Southern Air Transport the same situation existed. The senior guys were gaming the system just like your MEC seems to be. I was furloughed when the union vote was to occur. All junior guys put on the street in order to send a message by management. Sound familiar? I still wonder how JV was able to screw you guys by furloughing out of seniority. Do yourselves a favor: Decertify Alpa!

Kougarok 07-17-2016 10:41 AM

If it was me I would push really hard to switch to 1224.

motorclutch 07-17-2016 11:29 AM

K we are preaching to the choir. These guys seem to be missing a part of anatomy second only to the brain.

Let me be clear, ATI never ever furloughed out of seniority. PERIOD.

CTRCommander 07-18-2016 07:37 AM

That was Capital that did that and IT was under ALPA

The two people (ex cappy MEC) responsible are no longer welcome in property and are gone.

Hey here is the deal!!! Right now the voting dynamics are changing here. In one year the voting capable membership here will change. The new hire numbers will outweigh the older group.

Dont worry about all that. We are getting & have been getting our numbers up to where they are now. Crew member wise we are larger than ABX. Should a merger come and we vote on unions they will be outnumbered.

Wages, we are in a battle for business right now. I like the slogan on here "ABX freight for HALF THE RATE". We need to keep it lean but its short term. I think the other guys will choke before we do.

You can all put that slogan on shirts! Wear them when you have to surrender your badge because you got furloughed.

WingOffLight 07-30-2016 07:05 PM

I believe I created it months ago in a post predicting exactly where these two companies would go.

This is better than any of the soaps on tv anymore.

Joe's got half rate training airline going now? That's a CEO's fantasy! Especially in negotiations.

You can bet your sweet bottom if the ATI MEC is laying low they are Joes puppets. It's a unwinnable situation be that the case.

What are you smoking, injecting or snorting? Because I want some of it!

Wait is this JV? Hmm two posts...

motorclutch 07-31-2016 05:46 AM

Hey K....it probably is JV sitting with his lacky MEC eating Cheetos at the weekly sleep-over.

sherpster 07-31-2016 09:10 AM

"ABX freight for HALF THE RATE".

Congrats, you do the same work for 1/2 the pay. Are you bragging about that? confused really about why that could be a slogan.

Signed,

On any ramp at any time in the history of aviation WHOSE job is threatened more the pilot who set the top pay or those making half and looking up. You could throw the ATI group a 20% bone and they'll go giddy over it. While still making substantially less than thier sister company.

Your union fears the ATI group growing to a substantial number and then a merger forced on us. We'd have to vote on represantion...afterwards 1224 would be gone off this property. Youd be under ATI/alpa then would come the ISL committee and the integration where the first 75 legacy would be bypassed.

Btw, cheetos? really

Dont like em, and we wont allow them in the cockpit. Dont want you guys getting that cheesy powder on the gear handle.

Really? This is not a personal attack, more commenting towards your knowledge and quality in the content of your post; but you're sounding either dumb or stupid....your choice.

At least come to the table with something reasonable. *If* there were a merger between ABX/ATI, regardless of who survives, there would be no skipping 75 numbers in the creation of a ISL. While far enough fetched, if there were such a thing, ABX pilots would sustain the higher end of a list since there years of service are too great to bypass when compared to ATI.

Are you honestly representing that ATI pilots would forgo ABX's contract in order to remain with ALPA? Anyone who's been around these blocks already knows the representative authority (i.e. ALPA/Teamsters/etc.) has little to do with your contract. It's all in the pilot group.

My personal belief is that ATI is suspending hiring for a little bit and will resume in the future some time (pending movement on their B757 flying). Regardless if they resume or stay in a suspended mode; the future continues support ABX having a larger number of crewmembers...if that really matters to you.

Lastly I am not in favor of a merger between these groups (at this time).

CTRCommander 07-31-2016 06:31 PM

ATI Rumors.....

Actually no one is 100% on this.

One point kinda close is voting on representation. The group as a whole votes. This would be after road shows of both unions. Then both would negotiate seniority before an arbitrator. The goal here is for your relative seniority to stay "approximately " the same after the integration. This is all governed by law now days which was written post AA/TWA

The larger numeric group would hold an initial advantage. Depending on your opinion of which union you favor.. Like I said you'd have road shows for both . The ATI certificate would obviously be the more lucrative of the two. Simply due to the diversity of operations. Some of the above is simplified but I'm tired.

Technically not legal but management could have influence over the process after a merger was initiated. That's some of the reason why the east west lawsuit is still brewing over what is now American. Say like over inflation of one of the companies or vise versa.

Key point it's not our choice anyway

Another is the fact that one of Americas largest freight haulers has been somewhat stagnant while yet another is highly dependent on a gov subsidized mail contract. THE ONE that is growing by leaps and bounds is one based off mfg direct buyer. Where I can get a bag of Doritos by pressing a d*** button. Or I can buy dog food which is sent strait to my door same day for the same price as dragging my fat @$$ to Walmart.

Now we have two major players in this "new" game. ATSG and Atlas holdings. I know CONair (kalitta) is on it too but no one knows to what extent .

Sometimes day of. Most of the time they don't bother with the TBNT letters.

Unless you're just unable to go to the majors or large commuters. I'd probably just move on. Our pay and benefits are lower than the Nationals. Plus you'd upgrade quicker and make more faster.

If you have some skeletons (if we were still doing classes) you'll probably get the job. Basically on paper it looks like the legacies wouldn't pick you up in a year or ever

Well , it's not that I won't get picked up . I have another class from another air carrier but i don't start class with them until late fall, but of course I'd like to compare all options. There a 121 LLC operation but this one was my first choice based on personal lifestyle and qol. But yea if they don't pick me then , then obviously I will be moving on to the carrier who has hired me already .

CTRCommander 08-03-2016 05:04 PM

Yeah, bunch guys got fooooked over bad because we hired them and they quit their jobs AND THEN we cancelled the class ROFLMAO! Welcome to ATI boys!

You aren't the Lone Ranger......ABX has done the same in past years. Either way a pretty scummy move by whoever does it.

woog315 08-03-2016 08:01 PM

UPS did it as well. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world except in this POS industry you start over at the bottom wherever you go, so you really get screwed if you leave a decent job for that 'next big step' and then the rug gets pulled

wjcandee 08-04-2016 09:38 AM

Isn't ATSG's earnings call coming up on Tuesday? If something material is up with the Amazon contract, wouldn't they have to be willing to discuss it then?

CTRCommander 08-04-2016 12:56 PM

They should have one reviewing 2nd qtr and talking about 3rd and 4th forecast.

The Amazon stuff is pretty hush hush. Our performance quotas are good (ATSG) despite one airframe giving us a headache. It's really been a team effort for both ABX and ATI. Unfortunately we are behind bringing new tails on and that I think is the reason for the hiring stoppage.

Thankfully, ABX pulled a rabbit out of their hat on one route last week. I won't hesitate to poke their monkey on here kidding around but their #### works on the line. Oddly we have the same maintenance but a few of our tails (ATI) would be put to better use as beer cans.

Love your posts over on a.net... Especially the nitwit part!

What can I say? It was an uninformed question. I'll be nicer. Don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, although hard to imagine how that could happen, given that the slugfests over here make a.net look like a bunch of diplomats.

And I will confess that I did not, from reading the posts here for a long time, realize that the snarky comments are more in good fun than not, and that the folks at the two carriers do appear to have each other's backs. I just picked that up from CTRs recent post. So that's my bad, and it's on me.

(Thanks for the nice words, Sweet One. I will take all compliments, even sarcastic ones.) :-)

No some are pretty serious, but we do poke the monkey.

Pilot to Pilot though on the ramp none of us will leave the other out to dry. Management is a whole other story.

Dude, you need to stick to A.net. You are WAY out of your league here. You take "stuff" WAY too seriously. You gather your "intel" from the "pilot boards" and then run as fast as your fingers will take you to A.net to spew your new to you "scoop" on all things going on in the world of ATSG and Amazon. OBTW, I heard that the Ribway DC-8 is going to Amazon.
