Hey CactusCrew,
Your gonna have to change your name now to BrownButtonPusher or something. That sounds strangly lewd. Better try another one! |
How I got so lucky I'll never know and I'm afraid to ask! :) |

It's not going to be all roses from here on it. The next 6 weeks or so you'll probably feel better about the place then you will for the rest of your career. Don't get me wrong, it is a great job and a great company, but there will be nights when it will be helpful to "go to your happy place", where you are right now.

Same question as before: do the undesirable applicants have to re-apply when the window opens or are they continually looked at each time the window closes-without the ability to update.
Also why do they care if it's fair for those without internal recs? arjmjj and split s, Talked to HR today. They do not allow updates at all, ever. If you were allowed to fill out an application online, you have met the hiring requirements already. Congrats. Also, no call before the next application window opens does not mean you are exluded from a possible call down stream in 2007. At the end of 2007, you will need to reapply again in 2008. Why? . UPS corporate mandated all HR departments use one computer program. Difficult for the pilot HR department. They had unique requirements not addressed by the majority of HR folks. Think office folks, rampers, etc. So they are doing the best they can with a common use program. They are trying to improve the process. They said the online test helps them filter the applicants. It then takes a few months to process everyone into an actual class date (reason we see the 30 day folks that can't believe there luck). They talk to Crew Planning, Training Center, etc and determine what classes will be starting in the next few months and they filter applicants on file to best meet those requirements (who passed the online test) and then call those chosen to interview. It is a series of mini cycles. The lucky ones will complete online application, followed by online testing, scheduled interview, drug test, class in short order. The rest wait for the next mini hiring boom when the window reopens. Everyone still in the application pile for 2007 is then again looked at again.....The cycle takes a few months. They plan on hiring throughout the foreseeable future, so good luck to all including the poolies (Get your buds to thrash those weeds! in person, etc) Call 800-241-2357 to see when it reopens for those who meet the mins and want to apply. |
How long from interview date to class date can one expect (I have heard a few weeks to several months...can you defer etc.) and how long is training on average?

Fwiw, my attending the AirInc fair in ATL last November is what got me called for the interview. When BT called and went over my resume it had info that was not from the online app but my actual resume. Also, when I filled out the 2007 app online in early January, I got the 'we have plenty of qualified apps, etc" message and no psych profile. 2 weeks later, I get a call to interview. So my advice to all the hopefuls out there is get to an AirInc job fair and network.
