UPS Class, Part 2

This thread continues "UPS Class", which I closed after 200+ posts.

I just updated the hiring info on the UPS page:

http://airlinepilotcentral.com/airlines/cargo/ups.html

The only apps UPS is accepting at this time is for ground school instructors. For those asking, it's nearly impossible today to move from a ground school position to line pilot, so don't think of that as a secret way of getting in.

One more thing. With lots of future hiring to the ANC domicile, many recent interviewees have NOT had an internal recommendation. What they all have, however, is international widebody time, PIC or SIC. One friend of mine with an upcoming interview input his app in January with no internal recs, but is currently flying SIC on the MD11 for World.

APC will publish on both the APC page and here in the Cargo forum that time when UPS opens the pilot application window again. Lately the window has been closing after 100 applicants have applied, so check back often.

Thanks for the update Freight Dog. I can't believe folks have to sit by the computer and wait there until UPS decides to open up the window again. It sounds silly, and frankly I am embarrassed to have to explain this to my buds whom I have recommended.

However, your information is greatly appreciated.

OOTSK,

So you can put in the recs before someone has actually applied? I have a few buds there but I was under the impression they had to wait til my app was in before they put in the recs.

In hopes of encouraging others and expanding the knowledge base--I got the interview without any widebody time. It was international flying, but in the 727. No internal recommendations either. Keep at it guys.

Good question. I was told by PD in HR that my rec's were still good. I have no idea about the new system but the link to the recommendation form is still on airupsers. Maybe somebody can chime in on this one.

Some of my friends are still trying get in on that 100 window. A lot of good my recommendation is doing! :(

That's great news, Good. Are you now in the pool?

Our recs are good indefinitely, unlike the new app which is good only in the calendar year which it's submitted.

If you are able to get in with the "100" apps but do not get the e-mail to continue with the hiring process should you re-apply when the window opens up again or do they reconsider your app with the next group of 100 (bit of a run-on). I was able to get a app "on file" on 10 Jan-so I am assuming I was not considered.

Same here except no Int'l experience (minus Canada and a trip to the sandbox) and nothing heavier than a CRJ700. Interview to March class date = 4 weeks. SDFZ 757. Shocked but extremely happy! FWIW, when Buz called in mid-Jan to offer an interview, he was looking at my app from the Nov AirInc job fair in ATL. When I re-applied in early January(prior to phone call) I received the no thanks reply.

I have very limited international time and zero heavy time.

I had zero recs on file when called for the interview but had a few on file when I got to the interview.
