It will be interesting to see how Amazon Air grows profitably. Companies like Overstock, Wayfair, Walmart, Target, Bestbuy won't be buying space on an Amazon Airline unless it's a last resort and cheapest alternative. They won't give their competition business. How will Amazon Airline or logistics grow except on Amazon volume?
How far can Amazon grow before hitting a plateau? I priced out an item on Amazon a few weeks ago. Same exact item was at Lowes, on the shelf a mile away for $10 less than Amazon. Amazon's marketing seems to have worked. People think Amazon was less expensive than anybody else. Do your homework, not so much the case. Best Buy will price match if lower. A lot of other retailers will also price match if found lower.
Amazon years ago had a benefit over competition of most areas not having to pay sales tax. Now that they have DC's in just about every state and planning brick and mortar stores, you pay sales tax.
Walmart bought Jet.com this year. Walmart is also building massive distribution centers around the country specifically for online sales. Specifically to compete against Amazon. FDX is building centers close to these facilities. One In central Florida is 2 million sf with a 300,000 sf FDX facility just built next door.
Amazon is spending an enormous amount of capital into logistics. I give them credit how fast they have done this. Like FDX compared to UPS. UPS discounted FDX at the beginning, FDX proved UPS wrong. In logistics though, Amazon is one dimensional. They will only have Amazon volume. When people realize Amazon isn't as cheap as others and stronger competition starts digging into Amazon sales volume, you will see Amazon jets being sold and DC's shuttered to compete and retain market share.

I don't see where Prime Air, whatever it eventually consists of, will be exclusively used to move Amazon material. Bezos is smart enough to realize that, if he builds the logistical structure, there will be times of excess capacity and that this excess can be (and should be) monetized.
Amazon has already done this with their cloud computing, leasing out unused server space that was developed to handle Amazon's primary business.

If amazon can sell their spare capacity cheaper than fedex or ups, they will get the business. They are building their airline around min weight, which allows them to take the big money big weight stuff in their spare area... You guys know what country you live in?
