Well considering they are opening SLC to operate DHL and ENV. Says something else, so who knows.

Swift Air - The truth

Just talked to the brass and they said we probably won’t see ENV till 2021. This for now will stop the opening of the SLC base. But we will have SLC flying with the DHL plane, just not a base.

Any word on HAV yet, I know I asked a couple weeks ago but wondering if anything came down since then? Last I heard Cuba isn't allowing anyone into Havana but tourists can fly in then get bussed directly to the resorts on other parts of the island. I'm starting to think Cuba wont open up till 2021 either.

No word just rumors, I heard July then August. Happens when it happens. Even then Cuba flying is at a reduction anyway with Havana only and a limit of annual hours.

Take a look at the Mesa thread. Why would they give us 10 airplanes, when Mesa can operate them for half the price. Sure, we can cut cost out of MX, but then reliability fails. My bet, is that Mesa gets more airplanes from DHL, and as Swift's reliability falters, so goes the contract. Just look at how we are currently operating our own cargo aircraft, and the shape that it's in. Bandaid, chewing gum, strategically placed Captains looking the other way.

Yep cause Mesa is such a world class operation!

Do they have their 737 program up and running yet? I'd think a carrier that already has 737s would be a better fit but I just fly them.

It’s still in the works, last September they had supposedly hired some guys for it, but pulled a bait and switch on them into the RJ.

Kinda weird to go through this long process of adding a type like this. But that’s never stopped Johnny at all. He’s like a cockroach in the regional world. Remember go air and his Chinese airlines.

hoover 07-01-2020 11:16 AM

I remember GO. Did the Chinese one get **** down because they tried to fly old planes in China?
Is the cargo going to be done on the 300s?

I’m not sure what variant acft it is. My guess is -400s. We’re getting -400s from southern so I assume it’s similar.

Talked to a friend over at the Swift re-imaged iAero and he had nothing but decent things to say. He said it has its good and bad like most airlines, and that if you do your job, aren’t a pain in the ass, and don’t let scheduling screw you it’s a decent gig. The new pay rates are better, still sub par, but better.
sounds like management is trying to turn the place around but just has a way to go yet. He also said they may have 767’s on property soon (rumor)
good luck to all.

Exactly......
Now define not being a “pain in the ass”.

Why not? Swift Pilots flew 767s pre-bankruptcy.

If DHL want Swift to fly 767s, Swift will fly 767s

I think 767s vía DHL are definitely more realistic

HavanaExpress73 07-22-2020 07:25 AM

Well, crickets from the company as far as future plans related to staffing, LOAs/furloughs, or even the operation and what contracts are active again or planning on becoming active again. Cuba is obviously at the whims of their government, but the company must know something about the rest of the business, surely it would be nice if JC or BVL would at least keep us updated on what the outlook is moving into the fall. I know it's a big ask by Swift standards.

Even with the nhl resuming they haven’t really said anything

Triggs 07-22-2020 09:52 AM

Lack of communication has been one of my biggest beefs with this management. During these particularily difficult times, they really should be communicating the state of the company to let us know what is going on

Is that the only thing that's supposed to be resuming? I know college is still up in the air with some leagues planning to play the season and some cancelling already. I know the casinos basically said they were gonna start but then cancelled. The entire Caribbean is still basically closed, so I'm assuming no Sun Wing, Vacation Express, Tony Perez, etc. Cuba sounds like it's not going to open anytime soon either. What about the western firefighters and anything else I'm not thinking of?

Yes, even if they said "We don't know anything yet, but here's what we're looking at for now, here are some options we're considering for our pilots". Some of us are considering getting out of flying and doing something else for a bit till this madness and the subsequent bankruptcies, pay cuts, and trashing of QOL turn around years from now. So it would be nice if they came up with some sort of options (or at least admitting they don't really need us anymore) like just about every other airline is doing, so people can make plans moving forward.

TiredSoul 07-22-2020 11:14 AM

like just about every other airline
....but it’s Swift.

Some colleges will resume, that’s a revenue stream for them. Some schools have cut their season short. Don’t have any info on it yet.

Nhl is restarting for the play offs in YEG and YYZ.

All summer programs are cancelled. So no regular summer flying vex, tony Prague etc.

They are recalling people on leave for August.

Our 4th DHL plane is almost ready to be online.

All casino programs except wendover are running. Light loads in ACY, but IFP and GPT seem to be doing alright.

Miami remains dead.

Little by little it returns. But admin wise still a mess, no communication. Today was the first automated per diem payment for June and it’s messed up as expected.

Nahhhh. No paycuts... it’s an investment to save money. It’s gonna be used for housing crew members during initial and recurrent training. Maybe classrooms too.

NO, No, no. Its already paid for by the fake pay raise, and the soon to be announced NO BONUS, ( Outside of the fake pay raise) that we were promised. Just think of our fellow Crew members that were pressured, coearst to go to work, and got COVID19. Now stuck with medical bills enough to bankrupt the family. Think about this slap in the face, the next time they ask you, push you, to fly through DCA airspace at 8000 feet because the anti ice is inop....

Put a call into the Rock. With all the media providers practically begging for sports to put on the tube, I'll bet the XFL gets off the ground this time. Especially if he doesn't put up with kneeling and other disrespectful acts. I'd bet many NFL fans are wishing for an alternative.

Yep... 30 to 40 percent of the USA still believes that a knee on the neck of anyone who is NOT a WASP is benifits them. Don't misunderstand the reason why people take a knee. We, as a nation need to fix this problem.

Disrespecting the flag and the national anthem is NOT a proper way to effect change and earn respect.

White Anglo Saxon Protestant has what to do with failing to show proper respect for our nation?

If you have a few minutes, please read this article. It was originally POSTED on the COVID19 thread, Under the Unraveling of America. Hopefully it will shed some light on your question.
