I don't think you'll find sleeping for 8 on Citation X, seating yes, but lay flat for 8? I just don't know where you'd find the space.

Mai Tais or Molotovs... Hmmm...

The tech stops going through HNL are definitely better than going North especially if something breaks and you are grounded. Also considering clearances, going South can be easier versus dealing with Russia.

I was wondering about that as well. If things got dicey flying the high route we'd have to land in Russia for fuel and that troubles me. I'm pretty certain at this point we're going to go through HNL to Tokyo.

So, my next question is this; Will the G450 make those legs without tech stops? I know that the HNL-Tokyo leg pushes range. Do you see us stopping someplace along the way on some remote atoll for a bit of go-juice?

I wonder if they'll accept an impromptu concert as payment? LOL!

That said, I have access to the aircraft, but due to a scheduling conflict, I may need a crew. How does one find a G450 crew with nothing to do but hang out with old guitar players? And do I need to sell a kid (or worse, a kidney) to pay their due? LOL!

"Sleeping on Cessnas". Sounds like a movie...

I've slept on an X+ before in a seat that reclines pretty nicely. You had to put the tables in and then slide the seat forward in the tracks, but it worked. But it wasn't actually "lay flat", I admit.

The G450 is another thing entirely, the "night mode" is pretty awesome and not everyone sleeps anyway... it has to suck for the crew though as their rest area gets converted to another rack in the aircraft I saw. I never understood why they didn't add a fold down berth to that space as well to double it up... Hmmm... It'd probably make the pilots cranky, I suppose! LOL!

ANC in the winter isn't a problem. I'd be careful about recommending Shemya as a tech stop though. The weather there absolutely sucks in the winter, especially for civilian pilots without a lot of Alaska flying experience.

HNL tech stop?

I am surprised that people seem to be treating a HNL tech stop as an equivalent option to using ANC.

Aside from adding about 1400 NM to the overall journey, the HNL-Japan leg will most likely be fighting major jet stream headwinds. There's a reason you don't see a bunch of Asia bound freighters using HNL as a tech stop.

Even in the winter, our corporate ops went thru ANC for the reasons Adlerdriver says. It’s a day longer thru HNL and, if you have to tech stop HNL-TYO, you’re adding more miles still. Now, none of the tech stops leaving ANC in the winter are inviting, but there are enough options in the G450 which probably can make Chitose out of ANC, in any case. Petropavlovsk, Magadan and Khabarovsk being favorites and are commonly transited by shorter ranged jets. Petra is shortest on the TYO routing. I’ve used them all. Crews are available thru contracting agencies.

Freighter vs. private flight, two different animals. The OP asked if HNL is a viable tech stop. Going through ANC is the general routing, but if you have time and money to spend, sunshine beats snow!

The times I posted for each leg were real time. The 450 will do those specific leg/times non-stop.

The conference center will drop down to the floor and you can put a standard size inflatable bed on it. The couch can be slept on and the rest of the seats are fully berthable so you can definitely sleep on the 450.

Ok. You know your a/c better than I. I’d plan to have a 100-200 knot sub-tropical jet in your face for most of the flight at that time of year.
