Why are you still at SY if it's so bad?
This is the info I am getting from guys I talk to. It’s not bad for me. The reason guys are leaving is because of the desparity. Yes, they may be great guys but lack some of the qualifications that other classes had. Not sure if you know but they aren’t even having full classes during interviews. Half the guys don’t even show.

The union spread is fine. It’s the contract language that Causes the desparity. Until we can renegotiate that it will remain the same. I try to give an honest opinion. It’s not trash it’s the reality. Why don’t you PM and we can talk further.

Beech1980’s a complete moron. The union leadership even has a senior captain, a junior captain, and a junior FO on the new negotiating committee. Typical blowhard. But he’s established himself as the resident Sun Country expert so he thinks everybody should listen to him.

As far as new hires, they have all been very qualified. The base chief has done a remarkable job finding qualified guys. Once again Beech1980 has no clue what he’s talking about.

Everybody keep this in mind when reading anything that Beech1980 has to say.

Ha. It takes more than that to hurt my feelings.

You insulted our new hires and our union volunteers in subsequent posts. Just needed to correct you.

Our new hires have been as qualified, if not more qualified than you. Almost all have been captains at some point.

The union volunteers are great. My whole new hire class were captains. I’m just sharing what I’m hearing from the pilot group in general. the pool of applicants is dwindling and that is just a fact. I guess my post was wrongly interpreted.

I'm a newhire and I don't take offense at what Beech1980 has to say! The latest number I heard is 140 in 2018. It's a seller's market for pilots but I believe Jude knows this. There has been talk about possibly snapping first-year pay up to 2nd year rates but that might reflect poorly on the income statement right when they're out trying to line up financing to expand the fleet. Regardless, it's not wrong to be concerned about the applicant pool drying up.

Flame away but I think Sunny's headed in a very compelling direction. Quite frankly it's a much higher-quality airline than I expected coming here. The training department is first-rate and there's an underlying morale that's unshakably positive. Overall it seems like the company has been ready for a growth spurt for a while and just needed the right leadership. All I hear are great things about Jude from present and former Allegiant buddies of mine. It's hard to know where the ship is headed while it's turning but my gut likes what it's seeing so far...

Any truth to this pay scale slide up to 5 year pay? Or is this just another rumor that's on par with the Alaska merger?
