From my short time here, this is accurate. I do understand there were aircraft difficulties in the not too distant past; however that was attributable to a number of factors, none intentional by the company. My experience talking with the upper management is that they genuinely want a grow together, win together, profit together type of company where everybody shares in it all together.

I agree with Walker that this place is in fact poised to be the next Allegiant or JetBlue. They do need to fix the money and benefits issue. First year First Officers at the larger regionals are almost earning what our Captains are getting, and those guys have guaranteed flows or interviews to their mainline partners, and they get great travel benefits for them and their family. We are just now getting a reciprocal jumpseat program running, and do not yet have ZED travel set up..... ZED is approved with a few Mainline carriers, but the implementation software to link our RES system in for ticketing won't be completed for about 6 months.

If you consider that Via has only been 121 for about a year and a half, and is just finishing their FAA ASF-900 first year review they're actually doing a pretty darn good job. They also are the 1st new Part 121 certified under the new part 5 safety standards.

There is no shortage of places hiring. If you aren't interested in living in crashpads, doing airport reserve, doing short call reserve from a crashpad, not having to deal with commuting issues, and being abused by scheduling non-stop then Via is a great choice.

The equipment problems have been worked out for the most part, and the new MX department has their crap together and is getting the job done about as well as everybody else. If you read those social media complaints I'd bet most were from last year, or very early this year.

In training here you will get $100 per day, $700 per week. There is no per diem until IOE. You will get the online Computer Based Systems Training and limitation study packet about a week prior to attending training. A rental will be provided from MCO to the hotel and on the first day of class you'll exchange the rental for a company crew car. The hotel now being used is the Sheraton in Maitland FL. No laundry services on site. Refrigerator in room, and if requested they'll bring a microwave (supply permitting). It's about a 10 minute - in traffic - drive to HQ. Lots of food options around. First week is Indoc and HR stuff, followed by systems, and emergency drills. The CBT is better than others I've seen and if you pay attention it will teach you what you need to know to pass the exams and understand most things. The in class systems is to clear up anything that didn't make sense from the CBT and focus on areas needing extra attention. Tests are all done on the ipads. Other than signing the attendance roster you won't see much paper handed out. After you pass the systems exam you'll get your Crew ID and KCM card. After that you'll be sent home to wait for a simulator schedule. Pay remains $100 per day, $700 per week until OE.

Good write up. . thank you... I really wish Pay was better in training, but if the rest of the "package" looks good, I can get past that hurtle. It does seem that corporate communication has something to be desired, but once on the line, I hear that chatting with crew scheduling is pretty good (which is all that matters). Yep no crash pads, or non-rev'ing is AMAZING to me!!!! Sick amazing! This airline has seem to do a ton in a very short time. They also seem to be doing it right as they move forward from now on. I think they are going to have some growing plains, as their growth seems to be pretty quick, and they appear to have some "small business" ways of doing things. Really appreciate you guys letting us know about the company since there is literally NOTHING on line about them. Every little bit helps. Look forward to meeting some of you on the line.

The 145 FO/captain job posting says salary negotiable. So realistically what are we looking at for pay. Do some pilots start out with different pay or is it like a regional where every new hire has the exact same pay?

New street hire CA’s are currently offered a $70k first year salary. Since most other places are paying $62 - $67 per hour for first year CA pay, and that guarantee is only 75 hours in most cases, the $70k first year salary here is actually competitive. Cancellations don’t impact your pay like many places. You also don’t have to go hustle to pick up overtime to build your guarantee up to 100 hours monthly.

The FO pay really needs to be addressed first. It’s currently $42k per year and upgrade when minimums and vacancy exist.

That all said, you aren’t being beat up here Daily by scheduling and the whole place has much more of a team feeling to it than just a job.

They are actively working to address the pay scales and should have good news for everybody soon.

Is VIA still hiring for EMB-120 SICs? I sent my resume in a while back to Floris and haven't heard back...

A class is being talked about for early next year - a class just went through in October. Let me know if you have any questions about the cool side of the pillow.

I chatted (ok emailed) Matt the DO and he did tell me FO pay raises were coming first of the year. Not sure if this helps/hurt sanyone making their choice but it is nice to know. Looks like good things happening with Via. I really hope I’m at the beginning of a bigger “something”, it could be a fun ride.

Probably applies to the 121 side. 'Overtime pay' (working past 16 days/month) has increased for both sides already.

Don’t think they are actively looking for FO’s on the egg beater right now.

Anyone heard if they are having trouble filling the Jan class? I got an email today from them, and it kind'a alluded to that.
