Nothing against the pilot group as i got a chance to interact and talk to some great guys but after my thorough research and the way some members of the management treat the employees both in present and in the past, I just feel this company does not have much of a bright future unless the attitude and perception of its management changes towards its employees based on the experiences some present and former via pilots shared with me. I don't think I personally would last long or be comfortable working in a place under some members from management that are two faced.
I wish VIA air the very best for their big dreams which will require a huge amount of effort from management if they want to be even close to the same standards of other airlines that offer much more in today's competitive market.

You are correct on all statements, unfortunately.

Last year the 121 certificate was brand new, the E145 was brand new on the certificate, the training program was brand new, the line Check airmen were new, and everybody was learning their new part 121 jobs. To add to that they got a batch of seriously abused aircraft that needed a lot of TLC to get back to a more dependable condition.

Your decision to make, but I haven’t heard any of the issues you’ve raised happening recently. Under the conditions last year, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few people felt put upon; but I think you need to look at the totality of the situation.

I’ve been around long enough to say without a doubt that there is no perfect airline management. I’ve worked for one that was openly hostile to their pilots. Via is a breath of fresh air in comparison. The work rules here are above average. The schedules have been improving, the company is growing and adding more routes and more planes.

Could things go south? Sure. It could also be the same as Jetblue was in the year 2000. A great place to be before it quadruples in size with larger jets.

Is the glass half full, or half empty..... you decide.

While not entirely 100% accurate on the details, it is a fair overview.

Agreed. Timeline is off and a few other details... but otherwise a good overview of where the company is headed. The vision is less charter and more of a Low Cost Carrier...

Yes, I see great potential at Via. It’s definately not another regional. I agree, LCC model is a more appropriate description. Getting in at the ground floor is an exciting opportunity to help build a great airline.

Sorry, guys, you are not going to be a LCC with E145s and Brasillias. I read that article and all I saw was a company press release given to an aviation fluffer.

Sorry to be a downer, I’ve seen this time and time again and I’ve been part of it. You will not have longevity running EAS routes and you won’t make big money running 40 to 50 seat jets.

Take the PIC time and move on, 3 years max.

EAS routes are going to be Brasilia only soon. The 120 side of the company is run like a separate entity. As for making money with a LCC flying 50 seaters... ExpressJet made a LOT of money flying as a LCC in 145’s. The profit margin is there. I get your skepticism, and I would t pass on an opportunity to go to a major, but going to another LCC like Frontier is a lateral move from my personal situation here.

Agreed. I wouldn't leave either for another regional or most LCC's. The plan isn't for 145's long term anyway. Right now it's what we can fill with enough revenue to support the operation. As the brand grows, so will the loads and so will the fleet type size. We're getting interline ticketing and baggage now with AA which will also help the loads. They're in a good position to make this place grow fairly fast. Happy to be a part of it.

It’s an interline agreement that allows passengers to book connecting flights on our airline through AA. Also allows their bags to transfer. Previously, if you were switching from Via to American in say CLT, you would have to leave security, retrieve your bag from bag claim, and re-check it with American.
