Yes, they have lots to learn and improve on. All regionals do. Pilots just need to pick their priorities and which aggravation they want. All these regionals have something to complain about, go read the message boards.

In this company’s case, 85% of the issue is staffing related... and telling guys to go elsewhere isn’t going to help fix that.

I’ll say this. It’s a stepping stone job. Get in, keep applying to bigger better LCC’s, ACMI’s and legacies and move the hell onto better places when you can.

There have been no exaggerations

Cujo's position is and has always been, the we need more staffing (suckers). If they could just increase staffing, the airline would be amazing. He would say that even if all the airplanes were parked and the doors shut.

From what is sounds like, the incompetent management team would just use additional staffing to further stretch the operation. They wouldn't staff it properly, they would staff it as lean as possible to get the absolute most out of labor so as to extract more gains and growth.

.

Not true at all. I’ve said what their problems are. I’ve also said that all these regionals have their issues, and pilots need to research them carefully to decide which type of aggravation they want to deal with once hired. There are far fewer issues at Via than at most, but they’re different than the typical regional issues. Most problems at Via are related to growing too fast and not increasing staffing fast enough. That’s poor management planning in my opinion, but it’s still a better problem to have than a regional threatening missed assignments if you do not accept extra flying, or a missed assignment because flight loads were too heavy and you couldn’t jumpseat commute to work, or being harassed over calling in sick more than 3 times a year, or being told since you refused an extension you must file a fatigue report.

They aren’t perfect, they’re far from it actually, but they are better than most regionals IMHO. If you argue your case logically, they’ll listen.

Anyone do a recent interview here? If so, what was the experience like? Lots of info about the interview process for other regionals but not for Via.

Not really an interview. . . you might get a skype . . . do you have a pulse? If you are already at a base and have some sort of time in a jet or something then you are good to go. Just ask lots of questions!!! Come in with eyes wide open!

Elite has a class at the end of this month. It pays more than VIA and seems like a better place. something to check out.

Pot meet kettle....

Reading the thread, it sounds worse over there. More of a charter operator by the sounds of it.

The Via scheduled service loads are ahead of the boarding projections on all routes. Two classes have been scheduled, filled and starting soon. That should fix the current schedule issues which are seriously impacting QOL on the line. They have more expansion planned, and honestly they need to update their pay rates and other compensation. A few years ago they had a great bonus program that added about $25k a year based on your activity during the year. I’m told that a performance bonus is coming back after the first of the year.

Better info for Via is in the regionals OTHER thread since they moved from Charters to primarily scheduled services over the past two years.

Pot meet kettle? eh, not so much man. Sorry to say it but I think Elite is very much ahead than VIA. We have about 4 or 5 LCA's here that came directly from there. They echo what the via thread says. This is nothing personal to you at all. The issues Elite had from the prior 12 months have pretty much been solved, and don't really pale in comparison to VIA's issues. I haven't flown with anyone in the past 6 months who have anything to complain about at Elite. We all want more airplanes and growth I guess. And more $$. I wouldn't label VIA as a regional at all except for myabe their sh***y pay. For me its, FUPM.

See? Exaggerations.

You must have not been there when Elite had to bail Via out because we had too many cancelations.

One dude. One guy who turned his back on his family and didn’t want to go home, staying 26+ on the road each month got close to 25k bonus. And they didn’t pay him his full bonus either.

Cujo665 10-26-2018 02:42 AM

They’re now offering a $5,000 signing bonus for pilots with E145 type ratings.
First year FO now $55k not including per diem, or benefits.

Other places include per diem, commuter hotels, and benefit costs to advertise their yearly earnings.

This is $55k all by itself not including those other things. Housing is always provided unless you live local. That’s around 14-16 hotels a month. There is no airport standby, all reserve is either from home or a hotel, you never need a Crashpad.

FO pay currently tops out at $65k over 5 years.

Having worked at a regional where management was abusive towards their pilots; Via was a breath of fresh air. They have their problems to overcome, but they aren’t intentionally abusive like many other places are.

Heard this place just folded? Operations have stopped?
