There's about to be 15k pilots competing for all the same job openings, domestic unemployment is over 10%, 11 million Americans face eviction, restaurant and other businesses are folding due to the lockdown. So sure there's jobs outside of aviation, but they are in limited supply too.
So given those circumstances I don't really care what negative comments some idiot on the internet might have about a job they don't like. If it sucks that bad quit *****ing and take some action- go ahead and quit for a better job.

How about this, you talk to someone privy to information about the number of applicants and come back with the exact number. My guess is there's bare minimum 1000 from expressjet pilots, plus applications from CFIs that are just getting their ATP mins. Beyond that you'll have some mainline pilots who have been told that the recovery could be about 5 years- they won't give up their seniority and if you think they would you're naive or have forgotten seeing them get recalled after their great recession furloughs.
