Ive been at my current regional for 3 years, upgrade is still 2-3 years away...
I am currently holding a Chief Pilot/Assistant CP position.
Would it be advantageous to chase the upgrade at C5?
I know the whole "QOL priority", however I don't live in any of the bases for either airline, so that does not carry much weight for myself
Any training delays?
Also, I am reading that new hires can bid CA immediately, I meet all the 121 requirements for a CA, how long is the average for a C5 new hire to United with the CPP program, pending that individuals acceptance into the program?

Aren't Chief pilots supposed to be captains? Either way, I think C5 is offering a great opportunity. Your QoL will improve in months, not years. Many others have made the same difficult decision as you with up to 10 years at another regional!

IMO the chief pilot box does a lot for you but if other areas on your application are weak, I would consider C5. Otherwise, just build your time, stay a chief pilot, and wait.

First Officers can be Chief Pilots. It's a management position.

I am currently weighing the decision to interview at c5 and would greatly appreciate anyone who has the time to pm me. I would just like to pick your brain with the traditional stuff but would like to do it privately without interjections from the gallery.

thanks

For all; what is the CPP application process consist of, and what is the acceptance rate? I read on the website it is just the hogan test, but what are they "looking for"

I just completed the Hogan assessment and was successful. Here's an excerpt from United's email to me "Thank you for your interest in a career with United Airlines. As part of our screening process for pilots interested in the Career Path Program with CommutAir, we’d like you to take a Job Fit Assessment to help us evaluate characteristics that impact successful performance at our airline. This assessment is administered online by Hogan Assessments Systems.
Read each question and select the response that best indicates how you feel the majority of the time. There is no right or wrong answer to any particular question
"....

It's essentially ~300 questions and they're trying to assess your thought process, your behavior patterns. A lot of questions are related to each other but it's not immediately evident to you. Questions like "when I was younger, I felt I could take all my problems to my parents", True or False. Or, "I have never hated anyone in my life", True or False. Or, "People who are generally nice are always faking it", True or False. It's repeated questions along those lines.

I can only suggest that one answer with whatever their first thought is after reading and move on, you can't dwell on what it is they might be looking for as other questions you answer down the road may contradict a prior answer.

Hope this helps.
