Default Jumping ship for possible Compass upgrade

Hey there westcoasters, wondering what the "street captain" chances are after the summer FO shortage everyone is about to experience subsides. Currently at a good company but not too interested in a commute to the east coast so thinking of heading on over to Compass to be out west for an upgrade.

I've read around and it seems pretty grim EVERYWHERE for this summers staffing but if I'm gonna be working max block and min days off (I've gotten 11 days off every month since Nov of 17) I'd at least like to be out west close to friends and family. I'm about 140 hours away from the 1000 121 and at my current employer its basically an open upgrade to anyone with the time. We aren't advertising street captains just yet but if you come and have the time, they'll finish FO school and put you right into Cap training.

Any idea if this will be happening at Compass come later this year? I've heard from a handful of friends at Compass that they're currently throttling upgrades to keep the right seat staffed but wondering just how sustainable that is and for how long you all think it could last.

I wish my Surface had a crystal ball app... oh and I wish it worked

Compass won't have street captains any time soon. We are upgrading strictly in seniority order. If you want a lax, sea, phx, or MAYBE a slc base regardless of seat Come to Compass.

Upgrade at Compass for someone starting today is probably in the 2-2.5 year range. Street captains are nowhere at all on the horizon, because so many FOs on property have their 1000 hours of Part 121 time. Don't come to Compass for a street captain gig. Come to Compass because you want to be west coast based, and then for the quickest upgrade into LAX or PHX. Hope that helps, and best of luck in your decision!

I think there actually is a shot of a few quick upgrades sneaking through but it's unlikely and depends on how fast they turn on the upgrade cannon again. I wouldn't count on it tho. And those won't be street CA, it'll be a few prior 121 that have been here 7-8 mo by the time it goes down.

Enjoy being the plug if you do. There s a lot of us that are looking at our 1000 hours and it was all done at Compass. So the choice is yours.
