Who says I’m not leaving? Don’t come on hear and cry about getting furloughed come 2020.
If we eventually wind up at the same company again, you’ll have seniority over me. If I’m willing to take the risk of a few months seniority and you aren’t, it’s to your benefit if I’m wrong. If I’m right, it’s to my benefit. Either way we are both going to have jobs because any regional out there will take either of us in preference to some CFI with 1475 hours and only 25 of that ME, with no ATP, which is what they are taking now. So why all the angst? I’m a big boy and if I am making a mistake it’s me that will pay the price. I’m not criticizing you for taking what you see as a better opportunity. As for management lying to us, like I already said, I believe their jobs too are on the line. You ever read section 6 of the contract? Here are a few excepts: The Company will reimburse a Pilot for moving expenses, so long as the Pilot moves to a new residence that is within one-hundred and fifty (150) miles of the new Domicile airport when he is: 1. required to move involuntarily or is displaced from one Domicile to another which is more than fifty (50) miles from his previous Domicile, or When the Company is required to pay moving expenses, the Pilot will be reimbursed as follows: 1. A Pilot shall receive the following expenses for a professional mover (including shipping and insurance, loading and unloading) for household and personal goods, not to exceed twelve thousand (12,000) pounds, from the previous Domicile to the new Domicile, or from the Pilot’s residence to the new Domicile, whichever is shorter. The Company has the right to control the shipping method and the selection of the professional mover. In selecting the mover, the Company and the Pilot will mutually agree on a reputable, bonded furniture moving company. The Pilot will gather quotes from three (3) such moving companies, and the Company shall select one (1) of these three (3). They may or may not be able to do that but why all the angst directed at them or to your fellow pilots who simply want to bet differently than you do? The sky is NOT falling. We all have marketable skills and the job market is good, and the regionals are always a cr@pshoot. Make whatever contingency planning you want, but don’t badmouth others for their planning. We are all in the same boat. |

As much as I would love a bottom of the 9th miracle, I fear the damage has been done. There are too many people who have left/will leave in the next 2-3 months. Right around the 2 biggest months during our winter season. I see it and I think DL sees it (see above). Even if Compass got more flying, I'm not so sure we would be able to staff it. Every CA I know has either an interview or CJO. I would say about half of the FOs I fly with either have an interview or are just gonna stick it out because they are junior and don't have much too lose. The only thing I can think of is that they do have 20 planes coming but those probably wouldn't be on property until Summer/Fall 2020. So maybe they are betting on enough people to leave until that happens hence why they are delaying the announcement as then a lot of people might stick around. Just pure speculation. I sincerely hope this place keeps running. I just lose hope as each day passes and especially after the tone of the last union email. |
Saw no less than 14 crewmembers “randomly” selected this morning at a former CPZ base that gets cold in the winter. Best part was the 9E CA who just laughed and said “oh well if we take a delay for this”

The sad thing is this is just institutional obnoxiousness. TSA security is pretty worthless under the best of circumstances. Their own IG is appalled at how poorly they do in their own testing.

It’s the relatively few really senior Captains we have that are going to take the hit, guys that are at the top of the seniority and pay scale that really don’t want to be junior again and that’s going to be more QOL than monetary. Especially some that hung in there after the MSP base was closed. I imagine SUNNY is going to have a few takers.
No worry about the super senior, only the top 2 guys are planning to retire at CPZ, #3 onwards are already taking the flow to F9 or having their ways out. |
