In the Feb 1st class they told us that they were planning on opening MEM and DTW bases at the same time in April.

Starting Over 02-04-2008 06:03 AM

On this site it says April for both new bases and MEM will get 3 planes. I hope that is right. Mem is a 1hr ride to work for me.

Did the Feb 1st class get MSP or DTW

x95griffin 02-04-2008 06:39 PM

Everybody is MSP. There will probably be a base award sometime in March.

When you have your type ride, does that suffice as your ATP ride as well? (I'm just a Comm/Multi now) Is the type for just a 175, or 170/175/190/195?

Yes, but you will have to do a couple extra items if you don't already have your ATP.

All 4. One ride covers all...technically, the certificate says 170/190.

Thanks Mike!

No I don't have mine yet - so show up with written results in hand... what are the "extra items" to do?

Not much, just a few extra questions on the oral and I think 1 extra approach maybe. Also need to bring your logbooks to verify you have min ATP time.

I am still hearing everyone is going to MSP and the seniority list is still showing everyone in MSP.....BUT we did recieve an email a couple days ago to update our standing bids and it has BOTH MEM and DTW on the list. With this info in hand I would have to guess that the estimates of both bases opening in April are correct. Also the CP message says they are going to be very short on CA's later this month with the next airframe hitting property.

I think they are ramping things up just a little to cover the estimated 5 a/c leaving MSP...2 for DTW and 3 for MEM...These are only the rumors and info I felt I could ascertain from reading the recent emails.

On another note we have had a very small amount of attrition over the past 6 months. I started last june and have moved up 5 numbers on our global lists since that time. Not much, but considering the small # of pilots in front of me the math works out to 10% since June. I guess 10% in 8 months isn't too bad.

I am really wondering which way MEM will go for FO's I know it will definately be the junior CA base...I am hoping to be # 1 there ;)...but I have heard a few FO's saying they Wanted MEM so I am starting to wonder if MEM will go more senior than DTW for the FO's. Time will tell.

Maybe I can be #2 or #3. Thanks for the info!!

Martin404 02-05-2008 04:08 PM

So with 5 CA per a/c that means all the CA's are on the property right now... is that right?

I would say that anyone that is already on property will be a CA w/ in the next 12 months but outside of that I don't know. With the mngmt pilots, I would guess that anyone with a 190 or less # will likely be a CA by January 1 2009. That is my guess and comes with a disclaimer so take it for what its worth.

Don't forget that EVERY airline has some amount of attrition and CMP is no different. If the majors pick up hiring I would guess that it will also create extra CA slots at CMP. There are quite a few CA's that still have active apps out right now.

Starting Over 02-06-2008 04:53 AM

Are you one of them? I want to be #1 in MEM!!

LivinTheDream28 02-07-2008 12:50 PM

Does anyone have a route map for Compass? How many destinations will they serve when all the a/c are up and running? What about pay/contract/work rules ect? I'm happy where I am now but the commute is killing me and a DTW base would be perfect. What does the future look like? It would have to be a pretty sweet deal for me to leave where I am now, work rules and pay are excellent. Also, I can't upgrade for 2 years because of my age, and I have a little over a year senority now. Just wondering if Compass would be worth the lateral move, I have thought about it more and more lately.

Well, you may want to stay put for a while. If this DAL/NWA merger happens and furloughs are the result, then that means NW mainline pilots flowing back to Compass which means Compass pilots getting furloughed.:( Its all a gamble, but you may want to keep that in mind.

Starting Over 02-08-2008 06:03 AM

Its always nice to live near your base. That makesthis job alot less srtessful!!!

UnlimitedAkro 02-15-2008 08:59 AM

How many people have seniority numbers now? Where are the overnights out of MSP? What is the latest news? Thanks!

Martin404 02-15-2008 11:13 AM

How did the MEM bid go? Did it go senior for CA and FO?

Thanks

MARTY!

skid 02-15-2008 11:59 AM

MEM bid will not be out till the end of the month. (Best guess in the long run it will be the most junior)

As for destinations...changes all the time.

Is it a good place to go to? Ask me in 12 months. If I am still employed I will let you know. (the NWA/DELTA thing could put all Compass pilots on the street. Depends if NWA needs to push pilots back to us)
