Any advise welcome... Compass Airlines

Just wanted to get some good advice. I work for a 121 company that treats their pilots horrible and frankly i am sick of it. I was interviewed and hired at Compass and now have a difficult decision to make. Financially I can afford to make the move if I want. The flow up, if it remains intact would be the major reason why I would take the job followed by quality of life and location. It is scary times right now thinking of being the most junior guy at any airline. My company is currently going though its own problems now so it is not to say I have a whole lot of job security now. So my question is, should I continue with the beat down that my company gives on a day to day basis building PIC time or should I risk the move hoping the flow up is honored by Delta?

i've been at Compass a couple months and so far no complaints. Schedules are great compared to what I had before at Horizon so it a big improvement in QOL even though the hourly rate is less. I make about the same as I was making because the trips here are more efficient in my opinion. I think it would be a good move for you as long as you dont expect things to be perfect here. The crews here are awesome and pretty happy. Management here is a lot better that what i was use to, for now at least.

Hoping that there is still a flow-up three years from now is a pretty poor reason to come to Compass. Keep in mind that this would also mean there's a flow-down in place, and unlike Mesaba, NWA pilots can currently take every single seat at Compass and completely flush the list. Delta pilots have a no-furlough clause in their new LOA so guess where any furloughs in this merger are going to come from? I'm around the top 35% of the Compass list and I'm basing my financial planning on getting furloughed a year or so from now.

Now, if you think that there aren't going to be any furloughs at NWA, then Compass is a better deal. Although the contract isn't super great, we're treated fairly well (so far) and most of our "refugees" from airlines such as yours find it a vast improvement. If that's enough to make you take the plunge, go for it....I wouldn't do it based on a flowthrough agreement that may not be in place in a few years and will just as likely have resulted in your furlough.

Thanks for your honesty junglebus, guess I am just getting lazy and looking for a easy way out.

Im at Compass as well, and no complaints. If you are thinking about coming here ONLY based on the flow-through, I would re-think it. Who knows what is going to happen with the flow though. We could luck out and keep it at Delta, we could lose it... your guess is as good as mine.

If you are thinking about coming to Compass to have a slightly better QOL, fly with great crews, fly a great plane then the decision becomes a littler easier. I dont know if I would make the decision based on the flow through.

Do you have 1,000 PIC yet? I know that having it won't give you an instant job, but it is usually the last box to check off. Once you have that taken care of, you are basically qualified for any company out there.

Compass looks like a good gig though, except for the slap in the face $23 an hour first year pay.

Nope, I dont have 1,000 jet PIC time yet.

ATTENTION APC Forums: ADVICE

It's not like it's a difficult word to spell. I don't get how the majority of people around here cannot spell! Good thing you went to college.
