Eagle, ExpressJet or Compass?
I have been trying to avoid the regionals for a while now but it looks like I might be running out of options. What regional would you look into?
|
At this point and time compass. Possible mass movement happening soon and not a horrible contract that's rumored to get better.

How is the average compass applicant compared to other regionals? I've "heard" that it's tough for someone with only CFI experience to get hired there.
Anyone can get hired anywhere at any time it doesn't matter what your qualifications are. Apply, study, work hard and get to know people. Let the airline make the decision about you don't do their job for them. And to answer the question of the original poster if you are flying lears and challengers why even consider the regionals? Spirt is hiring like crazy and Jet Blue sounds like they are in bad shape. Save yourself the pain and heartache and skip the regionals. Unless you are out of a job then that is a different story. In such a case I would say Skywest or Compass are the least likely to give you a stroke. |
I'm at XJT and have an interview coming up with CPZ. Things at XJT are very stagnant as of now.

Compass has Single Engine Mikey now though.

Compass, EXJ. are good choices. Quicker upgrades and your chances of getting your career ruined are slim to none.

Skywest or compass seem to be the least hated. I was at PDT and RAH- avoid them if you can. For those of you saying to avoid all regionals- Thats not really helping- most guys looking at regionals dont have any other options. If you want to get to a major, you need prior 121 time. Corporate and mil guys can get in but yur NOT goin from CFI to UAL.

Also you do not need 121 time to get to a major. There was a guy in my new hire class at UA that was all part 91 flew citations, and I'm sure there are more than just him hired in the last year. |
Where do you want to live? Or where is the easiest commute?

Holy Smokes, what a no-brainer, anyone that worked at XJT or works there now would agree, stay as far away as possible from XJT. Any other airline out there would treat you better then XJT. Run forest run!

If you didn't know, ExpressJet has one of the best contract and work rules in the regional industry. The only thing I can assume about you is you got shot down at the interview, i.e, Express Jet decided you were not a good fit for them!!!! That being said, good luck with GoJet and Pinnacle and all the other regionals that you will get on with. |

Maybe slight off topic but not quite but lets say someone gets class dates at both Eagle and XJT, in what circumstance would it be smarter to choose Eagle over XJT or vice versa?

Xjt def over eagle. Way better contract and whoever said it is stagnant here? I've moved up 100 slots this year and I'm CRJ, let alone even more on ERJ and continuous hiring behind, this with majors just only starting to ramp up now.

Everything is relative, Eagle will keep losing CAs indefinitely to AA. Also add the ones that goes to other places. We are losing about 50 pilots a month or more. Not because it have the "better contract" now it means it will have it tomorrow. We signed a 8 year contract, Xjet is in negotiations and wait soon to get whipsaw it with Skywest and other places. There's no better regional. All of them are crappy, everything depends where he is willing to live and which one gives them the best options for him. |
