Yes and I think there may be some issues in the next year with the newer people on property. Hint hint, if you have the time get in now. I have heard of some not even being eligible now on the past couple vacancies.Don't know how true though.

Luckily I'm a refugee, so I won't run into the issue...but a lot of guys don't realize this requirement (that are new to 121 at CPZ) thinking they will upgrade in a year.

Don't forget about FAR 121.436:

(a) No certificate holder may use nor may any pilot act as pilot in command of an aircraft (or as second in command of an aircraft in a flag or supplemental operation that requires three or more pilots) unless the pilot:

(1) Holds an airline transport pilot certificate not subject to the limitations in §61.167 of this chapter;

(2) Holds an appropriate aircraft type rating for the aircraft being flown; and

(3) If serving as pilot in command in part 121 operations, has 1,000 hours as second in command in operations under this part, pilot in command in operations under §91.1053(a)(2)(i) of this chapter, pilot in command in operations under §135.243(a)(1) of this chapter, or any combination thereof. For those pilots who are employed as pilot in command in part 121 operations on July 31, 2013, compliance with the requirements of this paragraph (a)(3) is not required.

Right, so your 91 PIC, 135 PIC, and 121 SIC need to add up to 1000 for you to upgrade, assuming you have the 2000TT/1500ME or 2500TT/1000ME.

Anything in the email about the road ahead for Compass with this week's news? New hire here, just waiting to start class, and curious of the effects of the new flying...

I'm in the same boat, curious myself. Have any guys in the pool received a class date?

I would upgrade just as fast if not faster at compass due to the fleeet growth. If a restart is to be made, now is the time. Compass also has better planes, better pay and better quality of life after the first year. I do not have a degree and need one to go to legacy so im looking at six years at a regional anyway or perhaps more. Long term pay and quality of life is more valueable to me that a quick upgrade im not qualified for anyway. Tsa is fat on captains and fos and not upgrading right now by the way. If we dont grow, its only going to get worse.

I think you have laid out a strong case. If they are fat on pilots anyway it would be better utilization of your services. Another way to look at it is if they say no, they risk losing another pilot at both airlines.
