New hires: if you want to be totally broke during training, make sure you're in sim during April June or July. It appears they are sending new hires to the sim in Paris, France.

Ooh la la.

At least they will get per-diem!

No, it's not. It came out in a company email.

There is an sim facility in Paris for the 175. It has been used by regionals before, especially now that demand for 175 training is so high.

Yeah, Skywest has sent guys to Paris in the past for sims for the E175.

Anyone know what the "negotiated" per diem rate is for training outside of the USA? It's in the contract that this must be negotiated between ALPA and Compass. If it's $1.65 then you better start saving your pennies because $1.65 won't get you much in that fancy city.

I don't see the company putting up much of a fight about giving an appropriate amount of per diem for Paris.

It's naive to think any airline would offer more per diem than they are contractually obligated to provide. Delta doesn't pay more than the agreed upon $2.70/hour for international per diem when our crews layover in Paris.

Where this will help is come tax season. It will only increase the deductibility of your expenses.
