That's exactly why I've been checking in on IOCC all the time since day 1 of it being implemented. But sometimes it does say that "you are not scheduled to check in at this time" and won't let you check in, even though it's very close to your show time.

Nice to see a little humor from Andy again.
Also I’ve often been checking in on day 1 since the start of IOCC, because it gives you some great info. Like others said tail number, Mel, crew members and their previous duty (if you’re starting in the middle of a trip this is helpful!).
I just do it on the employee bus when I’m not doing anything else anyway.
At least they aren’t asking us to go to the crew room like they did last year. Seems like something along these lines is sent out every November

Good comments about the importance of scale; this is no small consideration in the airline business. But to be clear: private companies can raise capital by selling equity, just like public companies can. There are pros and cons to each. The ability of each company to raise debt is probably of greater importance.
In reality, we have very limited visibility on the agreement between Delta and Compass. However, I would imagine that Delta (and AA) probably have some self serving interest in the near-to-mid term success of Compass. It would not surprise me if there was some "cooperative flexibility" in the agreement terms to keep us in the game.

Private companies can raise capital but not this one without using banking line of credits which is what I suspect we use currently.

call me crazy but if some company is paying all my bills, the least I can do is take 45 seconds out of my PRECIOUS day to click three buttons on my phone while sitting on the employee shuttle bus, once a week. I feel like if Compass released a PRF for you guys to avoid stepping in puddles on the way to work, you'd jump from puddle to puddle getting your pants wet just to stick it to the company.
Also, ****ed about the check in policy? Be responsible and show up for your assignments on time. Missed assignments got us here..

The check in thing is dumb,yes...but this is the type of mentality of a young pilot group. Do you think that sh!t would fly at Delta? American? Sometimes you gotta play the game to get ahead. We are entrusted to fly 76 people around at a time yet we are acting like high school sophomores. Rant over.....
PS: stay off my lawn. Damn kids these days.

I could care less what the company wants me to do when I fly. If they want me to stand on my head, flapping my gums and rubbing my stomach while I fly I guess I will attempt to do that because they pay my bills.
That’s about where it stops. Again, take a look at how many different times we check in for different things. It’s being redundantly redundant for redundancy purposes. That’s my take on it. It’s overkill.

Check in, don't check in whatevs. You guys do you. Imma check in I guess, you know, because I'm supposed to. Getting worked up over this is on the same level of frivolous as the hat discussions.
