Default "Taco" Callsign in Tucson

I heard the callsign the other day. Do they fly KingAirs? What else do they fly? Best way to apply?

Thanks.

Those are deportation flights. They only operate on Tuesdays.

"Tacos" used to be New Mexico ANG F-16s. Don't know what they are flying now. Very surprised the call sign survived the pc purge of the last decade.

The Tacos in New Mexico got their F-16s shut down because they failed a bunch of inspections. The unit survived, though, and they integrated with the 58 SOW flying the training aircraft (HC/MC-130, HH-60, UH-1, and I think they're also now in the CV-22).

They're a charter company out of Albuquerque, NM flying a metroliner. I was in Las Cruces tonight and asked the guy on the radio and he said the company's name was Southwest charter.

I'm a former "Taco" from the NMANG unit and that was a callsign they used when they flew vipers, not sure what they go by now that they're in the Herc's and helos.

Another common use of the "Taco" callsign is when I was in UPT if you were on any kind of checkride you'd go by "Taco XX"... Because the guy giving you a checkride would try to fail you and when you look at a taco from the side it makes a "U" when stands for unsatisfactory.... So, you know, it's an intimidation factor for military bros.

I tried to look that company up online and haven't found a website or anything so if you guys find anything so share. I'd be interested in finding out more about those guys flying around my neck of the woods from my hometown 😎

I had a "Taco" call sign flying T-38's at Columbus AFB in Mississippi in 1986-87

The NM guard still uses the "TACO" call sign. Go to ABQ and you will here it all the time. I fly Lear's and King Air's for taco bell and tried to get that as our call sign.
