Chief pilot is John Joyce when I last called 2 yrs ago. 845-567-7410.
169 Route 17K
Newburgh, NY 12550.

I gained this info my calling the main reception desk at G.E. and asking for their Flight Dept. I have found this technique although dump, works with many companies with flight depts.

dunlaf05 04-20-2007 06:47 AM

I've met Mr. Joyce and have been on the company BBJ. Amazing airplane!! He told me he made less than an airline 737 captain but that the job is very stable (obviously). I'm sure you get stock options and stuff too.

He also told me they do a lot of international travel, especially to Europe.

I'd just be guessing here, but I'm confident that he makes just under a 10+ year 737 captain at the highest paying airline. I'm sure he's comfortable.;)

Fokkerflyer 05-18-2007 03:06 AM

I heard they are selling the BBJ, anyone know if this is true? Are they replacing it?

cl601pilot 05-18-2007 06:49 AM

Ge

Do some checking on who the new chief pilot is before sending your info in. I fly a BBJ, only for another couple of trips for another corporate operator. The word is that their has been a corporate reshuffle of some of the top guys in the flight department, top guys got fired and were replaced from the outside. That usually means and makes trouble for the troops. One of the 73's appears to be on the market. I'm not sure if its getting replaced or not.

I've gone to training with some of the different guys flying the 73 from GE. It appears to be a pretty senior ride. From what the guys said during training was that the new hires really are assigned to airplanes like the challengers.

wtrav8r 05-20-2007 10:09 AM

I heard at the NBAA Regional Forum in HPN that the BBJ was sold, for 10 million more than they paid for it.

They also took delivery of a Global, not sure which model.

Yes they are, it's listed in the major corporate airplane for sale magazines.

"From what the guys said during training was that the new hires really are assigned to airplanes like the challengers."

That's a bummer...

I am over in Geneva at Ebase right now. The BBJ that GE sold was to the Aero Toy Store. Aero Toy Store re-sold the BBJ on the first day of the show this week (Tuesday morning).

jumppilot03 05-23-2007 04:24 PM

They sold it to an investment company out of FLL. I just talked to one of the new pilots in SFO early this week. Really nice fella.

Just a thread bump. Saw GE is looking for a co-pilot and the department has a new manager. Anyone on here ever have any luck getting on?
Thanks.

USMCFLYR 08-19-2014 02:22 PM

I believe one of our guys got on with GE a few months back (can't remmeber exactly when). Based up in New York state> Does that sound familiar? He was one of our Challenger IPs.

onetogo 01-14-2016 02:36 AM

With GE's recent announcement that they will be moving their global headquarters to Boston, anyone know if the flight department will pack up and head that way as well?

galaxy flyer 01-14-2016 08:38 AM

They almost certainly will and rumor has it lots of openings when it happens. Pretty senior group.

GF

BPWI 01-14-2016 01:34 PM

Senior group with some fantastic, knowledgeable guys. That being said, the department has recently been through several changes management-wise and is a shell of what it used to be. They have recently moved a Global and Challenger to HPN as well as the operations in Newburgh.

galaxy flyer 01-14-2016 03:46 PM

BPWI,

How goes it? Haven't been back to Sheboygan here.

GE's last director went back to NetJets after a mere month or two. The rumor was his GE comp package was huge, too. A good department, but not a great department. Good guys, tho, I've meet in hotels, done a Global recurrent with one and have some friends that were there.

GF

BPWI 01-14-2016 04:55 PM

All good my friend. No longer in the arctic confines of SBM. Loved the team, but better options prevailed. New direct hire CP @ GE has apparently come from Panama? Haven't gotten the entire picture recently, however the guys I know there are low-ego, sharp guys. Next time I'm in Bedford, beers on me-

FloridaLarry 01-21-2016 04:33 AM

Corporate HQ moving to Boston. Flight Dept moving also?

BizPilot 01-22-2016 04:44 AM

Just heard on the news they are getting a helipad and hangar space for six aircraft as part of the deal. Hanscom field (BED) is the usual corporate airport for that area.

Hello Folks

is GE looking for heavy fixed-wing pilots? thanks

My info is that this list is quite outdated. Latest I heard is 4x CL605 and 2x Global.

HwkrPlt 03-21-2016 04:07 AM

The hot rumor is that they are going to get a hangar on the north side of the field off of R, where the old Raytheon hangar is. But I also heard there is some sort of underground tank that is a huge environmental problem up there that needs to be taken care of before any new construction starts.

I understand but was reposting the list because there is nothing on there remotely "heavy"

Doesn't get much heavier than a Global.

Still not a "heavy"

AIRCRAFT WEIGHT CLASSES
a. Heavy. Aircraft capable of takeoff weights of more than 255,000 pounds, whether or not they are operating at this weight during a particular phase of flight.

By ATC definition, the Global is not a heavy. But I don't believe that's what he meant. In the corporate side of things, the G's, Globals and big Falcons are considered heavies.
Many publications refer to them as heavies.

All about perspective...says the Atlas 767 driver who is called the the light twin guy by his 747 counterpart.

Vital Signs 03-25-2016 10:08 AM

Yep. I completely understand what is being implied but was going off the standard definition of aircraft size, not arguing whether mine looks bigger than yours on the ramp in Teterboro or enamored by the amout of "heavy iron" there.

Gulfstream and Bombardier call their Demo departments Large cabin Demo....not Heavy cabin demo.
So to be correct, the original question is..."is GE looking to hire into any of their large cabin aircraft"?

BPWI 03-25-2016 11:57 AM

Don't believe so. They recently hired, but haven't heard anything else since the new member joined.

Oh for christs sake....

Are you calling on Jesus' help?

HwkrPlt 09-20-2017 11:57 AM

FYI, the GE Flight Department is disposing of all their fixed wing aircraft, aside from a Honda Jet in Europe. They are keeping all their helicopters.

galaxy flyer 09-20-2017 12:05 PM

Standby for the next iteration of the GE Flight Dept.
